Frost and Held have recently followed Zach Evans on twitter. This could mean nothing OR could Frost try a late push on a kid who has struggled making a decision?

Does anybody keep up with twitter and know if this is the norm? Does Frost follow random recruits or just guys he is recruiting?

you knew it was coming!

Baggage or not unless he has broken some laws or something to that effect I don't know about. If he is wanting or willing to come to Nebraska I would take him in a heart beat.

That is some risk I think this staff has to and should take to get elite talent to Lincoln.

Heard he’s got some baggage. No thanks

Yeah, I thought there was a thread like a week ago where someone explained that he toyed with three to four SEC schools.

And I'm pretty sure Frost's first 5 star was Royce Freeman. Freeman is listed as a 4-star now, but I believe that was after a re-grade by both rivals and their competitor site.

Something doesn't smell right.

"Prior to the Texas 6A State Championship, which North Shore won, Evans was sent home due to an off-the-field issue. Specifics around the decision weren’t clear, but something caused Evans’ college announcement to throttle back in a hurry. As 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong reported, Georgia later released Evans from his NLI without penalty from the NCAA, allowing him to sign with another school and be eligible to play in the 2020 season."

Sent home the night before the TX state championship game and then Georgia's decision to cut ties and release him from his NLI point to potential problems. Could be minor but coaches better perform their due diligence.

Who cares, we'll take him, we're desperate.
Don't know anything about him BUT we also shouldn't forget we just had to get rid of a talented RB with baggage. It's important not to have trouble makers on the team if they hinder a positive team culture.

So, not knowing the situation with this kid, I'll let Held and Frost figure it out and who they want on the team. That's their job.

If culture is or was a big problem on this team and was costing us games, as the coaches gave us every indication to believe, you don’t solve the culture problem by bringing in uber talented players with this kind of baggage.

We saw how it ended up with Maurice, and this is eerily similar on a number of levels.

I know many around here want a "clean" program all the way around. They have the presumption that, that is how TO ran things. Which is horribly inaccurate. TO tried to run a clean program and Im sure that was his goal, but his players weren't angels by any means.
Many of these kids come from less then perfect home life and use football as a means to escape from their issues. We can't pass on every top player that has some issues or baggage. Now yes I agree, it depends on what the baggage is. The idea that Nebraska can only go after player who have a perfect life and no issues is silly. If that is true we would have very few recruits to choose from. My thought is take a shot with any kid who is willing to give us the time of day. Deal with any issues they have down the road. If there comes a point where their issues become a distraction to the team or to the safety of others, then yes they may need to move on.
Hopefully down the road we can be a bit more picky on who we have to take and not, but for now bring em all in.

Very interesting. They wouldn't follow him on a whim.

If the coaches think he's good enough for their locker room that's good enough for me. Picking him up would be the ultimate close to this class, borderline unbelievable.

I prefer we only take risks in position groups with at least a little proven depth. Guy could come in and steal reps from Mills and potentially decide to go full retard halfway through and leave a little shit in his wake.

The issue is that Frost DID give MW preferential treatment, and it did cause issues in the locker room with other players. As long as Frost learned his lesson with MW, and tells the kid that he will fight for a position just like everyone else, and that poor behavior will get him sent packing, bring him in.

Not asking for 85 scholly angels and 70+ walk-on angels. But when there are enough issues to let an $EC school release without restrictions on a player that is a concern. When the HS coach tells the 7th greatest rated RB of the era to go hone at the state title game, that’s an issue.

love the talent he has and I’m sure he will go somewhere and be great. Also see how many times he has already shown that he “needs/wants” the rules to be guidelines and suggestions for himself.

All players were asked to give up their cell phone the night before the game. Evans wouldn't do it, so he was sent home. He missed 3(?) games during the regular season for undisclosed team infractions.

Do these types of behaviors matter. More of a rhetorical question for us, but a definite question for the coaching staff.

Not all players are created equal. Better players get treated better. Sports isn’t socialism for f-sake. The minute you realize that, the better you are. The reason some of the players are having issues with that under Frost and also issues with the way AM is treated is because they were Mikes recruits. He didn’t give preferential treatment and the types of kids he recruited weren’t the type of kids that could handle being unequal due to talent. Unfortunately, in life things aren’t equal. A star player is going to get a little bit more leeway and a little more benefit then an OK or average guy. If my players had an issue with that, I’d tell them get better on the field

Let’s put it this way, if your making your company a ton of money, show up late. See if they give a rats ass. Now do the same and be an average employee.

sign Zach up. I like my backs to play with some edge. I don’t think we’ve had that in a very very long time.

Could have been an issue between player and coach. It's at least worth looking into.

Name me one success story that we've had? Thunder Collins, LP? Richie Incognito only gave us one good year, same as Mo Wa.
I agree with you. every good player we've had was a perfect angel during his high school years and remained that way long after graduation.

can't teach an old dog new tricks. every single person on earth stays exactly the same as they are at 17 regardless of age and experience.

very wise observation.

Who cares, this isn't a charity, if the Raiders can hire Ritchie Incognito I'll glady take this kid.

In my 25+ years following my beloved Huskers, this is what I normally see happen:

Incredible hype by the sunshine pumpers
Kid starts from day 1.
Kid loses starting role in week 4 due to disciplinary issues.
Kid hates it and threatens to quit. Didn't come to "Braska" to ride the bench.
Kid transfers to a JUCO. Never heard from ever again.
10 years later in jail for commiting the most horrible crime possible.
