Some people here that know more about football than me were convinced we would beat OSU.

Pretty sure I came off as an asshat. Didn't exactly mean to be. They are certainly on another level.

I had a fools hope that we could win. Unfortunately we hadn't shown any reason we should have.

You are also absolutely right in that if we want to consistently compete for division titles with OSU, our talent needs to dramatically improve. (including speed).

So what you’re saying is, Nebraska should offer all tOSU recruits? I’m for it. :)

As an OSU fan the big difference I see between the two programs is at the line of scrimmage. We have more athletic linemen on both sides of the ball. Give Frost another couple of years to recruit those types and I think you will see vast improvement in the quality of play.

As much as I want to believe that, there hasn't been much proof of that yet, although we have some good young talent with a lot of stars.

The more Bryce Benhart’s and Turner Corcoran’s we land, the better the offensive line will get. If you have a whole line with guys of their level, you get tOSU’s line.

Heck I’m very excited about the future of Jurgens, Piper and Conn as well. Even Lynn might turn into something? Teddy Prochazka is intriguing but he is a 2021 kid and needs plenty of physical development still (luckily he has time).

Problem for the team right now, every guy I just listed are either red-shirting or not on campus yet outside of Jurgens. We will see what guys like Benhart bring very soon.

What about guys are thought were very athletic for lineman like :
OL: Jimmy Fritzsche
Brant Banks
Matt Anderson
Ethan Piper
I'm not sure how athletic Corcoran and Conn are.

DL: Ty Robinson (not sure on athleticism)
Tate Wildman
Casey Rogers
Jahkeem Green
Nash Hutmacher
Blaise Gunnerson
Ben Stille has some athleticism for DT/DE.

I guess, i'm disappointed at least Wildman and Rogers can't crack the lineup on the DL, our starting DL is just not getting off blocks, if not, they're poorly coached.

People might as well get over us EVER having the same level of talent as Ohio State. It ain't gonna happen unless Ohio State really screws up big time.

Now that doesn't mean we can't ever win. It means we have to outsmart them in coaching, scheme and/or player enthusiasm/commitment. Osborne knew he'd never have equal talent to those top programs in the middle of a hotbed for talent, so he emphasized other things.

It's a fool's errand to look at the method's of Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and say "Gee we should just do that." It would be nice if more fans would realize that half the time stars do not matter. Just because Bama is winning with the can't miss four/five star guys doesn't mean we should rejoice when we sign a four star who was amazingly available late in the recruiting cycle and criticize the staff for signing anyone below four stars.

Yeah, speed is a big thing and OSU has a ton of it but the big difference is DEPTH. Their starting defense is going to get gutted this year by the NFL draft but anyone want to bet against next year's version being very good - especially as the year goes along.

Isn't that what Frost is doing? He's not doing anything different with a niche
