What Cignetti did was like winning the lottery (nailed the QB transfer, nailed almost every other transfer, timed up the perfect schedule, etc) and would be nearly impossible for any other program to duplicate. There's no point in even thinking about it, it's not a "plan" that is available to us. Good for Indiana, but such an outlier that it's fool's gold.
And also the type of thing that makes the seat much hotter for coaches like Rhule who are trying to turn around a program.
I might cut him a little slack since it is his first grader at Alabama, taking over after the goat. Let’s evaluate him after year two. Plus, he’s saddled with a dynamic athlete of questionable quarterback skills

EXACTLY THIS. Even the amazing coach over at CU failed to do this with all his bling and glitz and glamour. I mean, he tried really hard, and got some good dudes there, has two of the top guys in the country, and STILL got his ass handed to him by crap teams like NU. Its a Cinderella story at IU and most likely, they see far fewer wins next year, then fall back down to the norm after that, winning 3-6 games every year. While I would love to have a season like that here, I dont really want to see 1 blip on the radar then fall back to 5 wins. I want sustained success. If that means we are a 9 win team every single year and then we jump out and get 10-12+ every so often, so be it. Give me that over 1 playoff appearance a century.
I'm not worried about Rhule's recruiting. The biggest issue is he needs to get players to stay and produce.
There does seem to be alot of smoke there. Fingers crossed.
If we would have hired a 63 year old head coach whose last 3 stops were IUP, Elon, and JMU, our own fans would have burned down the stadium.
It worked out for Indiana. That kind of hire is not going to happen here. The AD of our program will not take on that level of risk.
Was Mills the one who wanted to come back for the Wisconsin game and Oklahoma was freaking out?
If he is Florida good like Barney then watch out. And Mozee is another weapon for Dylan.
I think it makes his seat hotter as well. He is going to be expected to maintain that level at Indiana or he is going to jump to a job where he can get players without the need to recruit to Indiana. If you know what I mean.
Mills has good size at 6'1", too.
Cignetti is a lot about himself, so that 8 year extension could bite Indiana in the ass. You just know, some down and out former power with a lot of dough is gonna be after this guy IF they happen to have a real good year next year.
Once can be luck, twice means something.

Sign him up based on special teams alone. We need to change that aspect of our team. A legit returner would be a start. Then get a legit punter.
I stand corrected. Still not sure he hasn't regressed each year. Every accolade for 24 was preseason.......
Being from Kentucky I watch a lot off there games and Brown is really lazy, amazing athlete but does everything 50%. If we get any of there 3 main receivers I hope its J Maclin, he plays hard but freaking Stoops under utilized him.
