Corn Nation: Possible Southern Miss upset..

I saw a little blurb at the bottom about losing our rb commit Thomas to SMU. I havent seen that discussed on here. Should I care if he goes to SMU? The coaches obviously saw something they liked.

sucks to lose a rb recruit like him, but lose this game, and things start to look like a dumpster fire

There is another thread on here about that. But they day its not a huge deal since we got stevenson and hes redshirting. Also, we have a ridiculous amount of young rbs.

Come on people. Their wins are Texas State and Austin Peay. While who knows with the Huskers right now, let's not fall of the cliff. This isn't an old school Southern Miss team that can play with anyone.

Wasn't it southern miss who beat Nebraska at home in 2004? I didn't think it was possible then, either.

Much like the last 14 years, I don't know what to expect or which team is going to come running out of the tunnel.

I will take Nebraska, but sadly, I won't be overly surprised to see us lose, either.

You mean they might be as good as McNeese State last year or maybe Northern Illinois this year? With the scholarship limits everybody has some talent and on any given game day if the ball bounces the right way a few times lots of teams have a shot at an upset.

Me thinks they'll have a much harder time stopping our offense then we will stopping theirs.

Very legitimate concerns. However, though I am frustrated beyond belief, I still think we win in a shootout...I will say 49-42
Agree with your score. This will be a track meet. Would be a good game to have dpe back for a kickoff return or two.

Lol... uhmmm No, they are not as good as Northern Illinois this year. Northern Illinois is on a completely different level every single season and they would compete for .500 or better consistently in the Big Ten.

Southern Miss is not Northern Illinois, not even close. As for McNeese State, Nebraska has played 15 teams better than McNeese State, since playing them. The lesson of McNeese State isn;t about talent or whether Southern Miss is better. The lesson of that game is showing up motivated and prepared to play.

That applies all over College football whether your're Auburn playign Jax State, Ark playing Toledo, Minnesota playing Kent State, or Missouri playing Ark State.

If Nebraska isn't mentally prepared, they definitely could get beat. But this isn't like playign Northern Illinois or another FBS program that will compete for 10 or 11 wins and easily dominate their league.

My tongue was firmly planted in my cheek. I realize that N Illinois is a pretty good team. The point however was that N Illinois took #1 OSU to the wire. Cough cough McNeese State and even South Dakota State a few years ago gave NU all it could handle. SDSU got screwed on a couple of calls that year or that outcome could have been different so I hope the hell our team isn't overlooking Southern Miss. They have more talent than McNeese St or SDSU did. You can't overlook anybody.
