For winning an ncaa tournament game and accomplishing what no other major league college basketball teams in the state of Nebraska has ever done. No other Nebraska team has won a game in the tournament whether in the state of Nebraska or outside the state in our country. Not in this country or in our hemisphere. Not in our hemisphere or the other earth's hemisphere. In fact, all known hemispheres and spheres in our solar system and to the best of our knowledge in the known universe and possibly unknown universes (and their spheres). And it stands to reason that any parallel universes with parallel Nebraska universities would equally not have won an ncaa bracket game. Not other than Creighton.
Although, a parallel universe may have slight differences so, even though remote, it's possible that a university not named Creighton, in that parallel universe, may have won a first round game. Second round probably not. Then it's really stretching to say it's parallel.

So Creighton, today, accomplished more clout than any other major Nebraska education unit since man crawled out of his cave in amazement at the orb in the sky.

One more thing. You fulfilled my bracket expectation so kudos to that (another single point of light in the history of Nebraska) but you'll need to beat it Sunday because I don't have you going any further.

You retarded or something?

Go to the creighton board dumbass

I've often wondered if I was not diagnosed correctly in early education.
Might explain why I can't come up with an answer to this. If you are 0-7 all time in NCAA tournament games is it better not to be 0-8? Would 0-8 be an improvement or make it worse?
Let me guess, you were taught by "Teacher of the year". Seek help.

I'm old enough to remember Nebraska kicking the shit out of Creighton the last time they played.

D**K POST OF THE YEAR.

Certainly not a fan of the jays (I grew up down the street from the lesser jays) but PLEASE don't use the term "retarded".

I've spent the last 20 years working with kids in special education, and using that term as a slur is not appropriate any more.

Thank you.
Easy there Julie. Prep grad here.

Lol...it's true

My original post was not as a Creighton (thanks for the name calling though) but as a very long suffering former Nebraska basketball fan, now observer.
I grew up near enough to the Devaney center to be able to walk to games. Tickets and ticket prices were an afterthought. I even went to a few games in the Coliseum, which was a great old venue.
Cipriano and Iba's teams may not have been great but they were well coached and fought hard. Nee wasnt a great X's and O's guy but found talented players that filled the right roles. Something the current coach has no talent for.
While to this point Nebraska basketball wasn't epic it had been semi-respectable. With Nee, we actually made the tourney but always crumbled in the first game. It seemed we never had that next gear.
If NU had 'glory years' it was relative and contained in a four year stretch of consecutive invites.
Think about this. Outside of that small stretch, NU's tourney history is Moe Iba's 86 team, one other Nee team, and Tim Miles 2014 squad.
Yes, NU is the only major conference team without a win but they've been there very few times.
Some might blame our environs but we should have much more an advantage than a minor college such as Creighton. They've won 15 tournament games spread out over a long history. No one would mention KSU or Iowa St. as basketball powers or expect them to have a Kentucky type history but their success completely dominates anything Nebraska has ever done.
With our resources, and we use them, you'd think we could do better. You'd think we could do something.
A comparison of all time NCAA tournament records for programs I'd say historically did not match Nebraska resources but local to us.
Kansas St. 37-35
Creighton 15-24
Iowa St. 21-21
Nebraska 0-7
When put in that context you can see that not only is our record poor but otherworldly poor. It makes you think there had to be effort to be that bad for that long.
So with that I'll say this. Nebraska, in several ways, may not be the worst program in major college basketball history but they are hands down the most underachieving. And to this day they carry on that tradition.

They currently have a coach, 10 years removed from a winning season, who raced out of the gates with two 7 win seasons. In just about every case a coach who does that is fired. There might be some patience an historically poor program would have if there was some visible program building happening. There was none and no attempt being made. Just scouring the back lots of college basketball for other team's disgruntled bench players.
So yes, Creighton wins one background game this weekend and it overshadows the entirety of Nebraska's history.
We can build arenas but can't hire a decent coach to save ourselves and the bad decisions keep coming in economics and hires.
Some say we have a lot of money lets just hire another coach. The B10 brought us unimaginable resources but it just made the university money drunk. Frosts and Hoiberg's extensions were all time bad, almost criminal fiscal irresponsibility. And make no mistake, those decisions went through a network of approvals. If this was a private corporation heads would have rolled and possibly criminal charges would have been exacted. But evidently since we have a lot we are ok to squander a lot and if some want to enrich themselves, what's the harm.

So I'll say this. No, I am not a fan, not any longer. I am an observer.
The bad this program has been has manifested itself in many ways but I don't know that throughout its evolution its been as poorly managed and executed as it is right now. And I don't see there being any light in the tunnel. If played correctly, at least the financial matrix can be absolved to some degree but then the decision making would need to be from somebody, somewhere on that campus heretofore unknown.

Do they have a football program? No, so I don’t care.

Thinking Baylor wins today. Hope I'm wrong!

We all rationalize in different ways.
No, they (I assume you mean the Omaha city college) doesn't have a football team. It's because they aren't a big deal. They've never even had their own venue. They just rent some place, throw out a basketball and five guys. Not that tough. And if you don't completely mishandle every facet of a program you can easily enjoy some success.

Grew up with Nee. Fun times. I was too young but the student section was pretty awesome for games like KU.

Going to the Big 8 tourney down in KC was a blast too. With only 8 teams it seemed like it had more of a small-town feel.
