Talked to a friend who is close to the situation, nothing for sure but the talk is:

1. We'll lose to PSU and IOWA (Captain Obvious), but regardless, the staff is gone no matter what.

2. The new HC, something on a different level from Solich/Callahan/Pelini/Riley, will be announced the week of December 4.

3. As happened with Riley, they think that most of the current 10 commits will stay as they will be really excited about the new coach and they're all doing a wait and see now. It's not over with Bookie or Keyshawn (Riley won't poison things). We won't have the mass of de-commitments that we had when Callahan was going down. The new coach will have some work to do but will complete a decent class for this year.

4. Very few of the current players will leave beyond normal attrition. Most kids who go to Nebraska like it here after they have been here a while. It's not a certainty that Lee will be the starter in 2018. One of the interesting things that I was told is that rather than the reaction when Bo was fired among his minions, the large majority of the players seem to realize that they aren't getting the coaching and training that they need (despite the fact that they like the current coaches), which is frankly pretty damn mature if you ask me. Rather than sit out a year, leave their friends, and disrupt their educations, they will likely stay and embrace a better staff.

5. JP is the only assistant who has a chance to be retained. Too bad as I kind of like our RB coach.

6. Complete overhaul of S&C, particularly for the OL, DL, and LB.

7. Something not talked about much now, but Tim Miles is essentially in the same situation as Riley. He is likely gone after this year and replaced with a proven winner at a high price.

If 70% of this is true, I'll be turning cartwheels. It seems to push all of the right buttons. It seems that the powers at the University see all of the money being generated and finally just decided that this "staffing on the cheap" stuff is a failure. They have come to the conclusion that the faithful Husker fans can only stay that way to a point with the 2 most important athletic programs being in the dump. Looks like the new AD was hired to clean up a bunch of messes.
