We keep hearing this from Riley, and I think he is genuine. However, it seems that the plan is to "commit" to the run by going through the motions to ultimately set up the pass.
To me, there is a difference between running the ball a lot and truly committing to it. When you look at Wiscy or Arkansas, running the ball is part of their identity. It matters to them from the players up and there is creativity with the blocking schemes and the plays.
I get that our OL is in shambles, but we have no creativity with the play calling. It is send Newby straight into the backs of the linemen and an occasional slow developing sweep with Ozigbo (drives me insane).
I guess my point is, our running game seems like nothing more than going through the motions to prove we will do it, but we aren't doing it with any sort of purpose.
I am no schematic genius, but this is just my observation from my comfy couch.
Either way, our offense is in shambles like no time last season. We cannot get anything going, not even against bad teams. I hope we figure it out quick or what looked like a special season could implode in short order.
