All right; already know this may not be a very popular, kind of negative topic but don't apologize for it. Right off the Husker baseball page, "Kirby directs the Husker offense, coaches Nebraska's infielders, oversees base running and coaches third base". We have taken steps backwards in several of those areas since Mike's arrival and it's not all attributed to player turnover in my opinion. So much so that DE has had to take over several portions of MK's responsibilities this year in an attempt to get things heading north again. So one has to question the hire of MK and wonder how he fits into the future of our program going forward. If we struggle again this year does DE go recruit a replacement, or does the player recruiting bump from MK make up for his less than outstanding player development issues?

I don't disagree with anything you said. Sadly, not sure he has given a tremendous boost to recruiting, either. I don't really know how to read the situation with him between poor results and reduction in responsibilities. We miss Will Bolt.

Could be..........or has the program and talent been at a level that DE has maybe taken too passive of an approach in the past??

Erstad will do what is necessary to build a winning progarm...even if that means parting ways with certain coaches IMO. But, I'm not so certain DE isn't the main problem...or, at the very least his vision and philosophy. From the moment he was hired how many times have we heard him say "It's chaos on the basepaths," Erstad said. "That's what we're going to have -- straight chaos." He either was 1. Talking out of his arse....2. Abandoned what he wanted to do. or 3. Hasn't been able to recruit to his philosophy. Lack of speed and pop is no way to build a program.

It's hard to say after one season what his role and impact are. I agree that Kirby gets the blame and some of it is rightfully so, but at the end of the day this is Erstad's team so he should have the biggest impact in those areas.
