Will not leave Clemson, will not accept the job, No, will use the Huskers for leverage, NO!, not leaving Miami, Not leaving Texas, friend of Mike's and I think he is from Wisconsin, Yes

Lets not make this more complicated than it needs to be. We need a new head coach, and one of the hottest up-and-coming coaches played is an alum.

And if Frost doesn't want us, then god help us because no else decent is going to want to come here.
Maybe this. But I disagree if Frost doesn't want to come. Still think it's attractive even with 'win quickly or else' expectations.

SF SF SF SF SF SF SF SF SF SF SF... and if not Bounds, Green, and the new AD should immediately be fired.

You want to win?

The surest way to win at Nebraska would be to hire someone who gets it. NU had a great formula for success. It needs to be adapted for today's game.

My two candidates: Scott Frost and Craig Bohl-- yeah, get over it. Do you want to win or not?

What about Shaw from Stanford? I’m not saying I want him butndo you think he’d be a good candidate? Runs the ball well and seems to recruit well enough even at Stanford? Watched them play Oregon and physically dominate the trenches.

If you're the AD, that's a good start. Make a list of the guys you want to bring in. However, in addition to that, you also need to open the job up to people you haven't thought of - you know, find out who is interested.

Because this job will pay several million dollars per year, there will be no shortage of people interested. That's why it would be an extremely good investment to hire a recruiting firm that specializes in this type of thing to filter through the candidates.

Or, as another approach, you could just call your buddies at rival schools in the Big Ten and ask them to recommend to you who the next coach at Nebraska should be...because you know the good people at the University of Wisconsin have nothing but Nebraska's best interests at heart.

I’ll throw Gus Malzhan name in the hat..he runs a fun offense which is similar to SF.

Stanford alum and well paid. Doesn't seem realistic.

I would add Whittingham to the list (yes I saw the USC game)

Troy Calhoun (AirForce) - he has run a variety of offenses ranging from being an offensive coordinator in the NFL to his current offense at Air Force and might be able to match a system to our current roster.

I don't think we are going to be in the market for any power 5 coach that has had a great deal of success at their current position.

Doeren from NC state (previous Northern Illinois Coach) - he got NIU to a BCS bowl and has NC State on the rise - I believe he was very power run based while at NIU

Bronco Mendenhall

You could offer Gundy 6-7 million and see if he picks up the phone (i don't think he does)

If Sumlin gets canned I would consider him - aTm could help pay part of his salary - he get 3 million from Neb - aTm would be on the hook for 2 per year until his contract runs out with them and then you elevate him to 5-6 million at Neb if there are results

Mark Richt - no chance in hell, but just like the Midwest isn't for everyone - neither is Miami - Miami is the better job - he makes 4 million - we would have to come strong and he would have to hate living in Miami

despite the Riley experiment I don't think the lack of high level success at one institution necessarily guarantees lack of success at another program

the new AD is going to have to ask himself whether the new hire is going to unite the fan base and allow for 5 years if things get a bit rocky

Frost fulfills those criteria and he is an upcoming power 5 head coaching candidate

wildcard Tom Rathman - doesn't have the coaching pedigree to be head coach but would seek his input - from reports he isn't leaving California

Ferentz junior if all else fails

Although I didn't agree with his end-of-the-game decision last night, I've always really liked Whittingham. If NU was determined to swoop into the Pac-12 and hire a coach who had long-standing ties to his home state, I sure wish it had been him.

You can not be serious about your list.... do you honestly think Dabo would leave Clemson to come here to Nebraska... look I am as big of a Husker fan as anyone here but come on please join us in reality here... Nebraska isn’t the job it once was we have an impatient fan base that would have called for Dabo’s head when he first started he was reeling in recruits by couldn’t get over the top... Herman seriously you think he’d leave the hot bed of Texas for Nebraska? If we dump Mike we better have realistic expectations or you will all be seriously disappointed like you were when we hired Mike

I won't go there on the first part. If it gets us Frost, it's a hire in the right direction. He comes from a good sports family. He also worked with Bounds at Ole Miss. Only time will tell if he is good. The presser is suppose to be by Wednesday.
Thanks

The problem is the guy always makes head scratching decisions in the last few minutes of close games it seems. I just have seen WAY too many times where he had issues with clock management and does stupid things at crunch time. No thanks.

I didn't agree with Whittingham's decision to go for two, but if that exact same play happens with Riley on the sidelines it would be defended tooth and nail as being totally the correct call IF only the QB had spotted the wide-open receiver in the end zone.

I'm not even talking about last night's game really. I've just seen him make bizarre decisions on when to go for a 4th down, delay penalties at crunch time because they can't get the play called etc. I just don't think he's good in pressure situations and he would have PLENTY of that at NU.
