Cignetti next stop

Right?
Unless the money is just that big of a difference, why go?

Look, in 120 years of IU football this is the first time they have been 9-0. He can finish 9-4 and he is a god. He can go 6-6 the next 5 years and be

39-34 and STILL go down as one of their best coaches in history.

Also, feel free to check my math because I suck at it.
IF they make the playoff, IU will pay him with an extension.

Oh for sure. I mean, he will get an extension regardless. Might as well try and "lock him up" 64 years old...sign him until he is 74...and hopefully be done with it.

I will not be one bit surprised to see Indiana beat OSU in Columbus in a couple weeks. This week the Buckeyes have Purdue, next week Northwestern, then Indiana at home.

Indiana, if they get past Michigan at home Saturday, then has a bye week heading into the road game at OSU. It's pretty obvious, Cignetti and his staff will have 3-4-5 things ready to go on offense that game they haven't showed this year.

I do look forward to that IND-OSU game cause its gonna be a real "class check" for Indiana and CIgnetti.

(It sucks when I have to look forward to other college games since NU continues to suck).

Keep an eye on OSU if OSU doesn't win the B1G and go deep in the Playoffs. They're getting fed up with Ryan Day. What's hard to believe is that they haven't lost more than 2 games in a season since around 2010-2011 (or thereabouts) but that just isn't good enough there

He’s gonna beat Ohio State and Ohio State boosters will be waiting outside the IU locker room with a Brinks truck and have a U-Haul outside of Ohio States lockeroom

If you’re good enough to be invited to a lot of weddings and be a bridesmaid, But can’t close the deal and be the bride yourself, you’re probably ugly, but have a nice personality. That’s Ryan Day. You’re close to the action, but not a serious contender

My son is an OSU grad (I'm Northwestern) and he's a big donor to OSU. Many will tell you that they have the most talented roster in CF - look what they went out and bought in through the Portal and their last few recruiting classes. Money is no object to that fan base - they're by far the largest in the country - but the HC better produce. That time is now for Ryan Day

He worked for Saban didn't he? Maybe bama throws a bag at him and fires their coach end of season.

Would not surprise me. There’s not a team in all of college football more serious than Alabama. They would happily get eight years out of that guy and probably pay him $25 million per.

Agree and Harbaugh lost 6 or 7 straight (somewhere around that) to OSU before Day took over. Urban owned Harbaugh's ass and Tressel was something like 9-1 against Michigan. Day better win big this year - with all of that NFL talent - and he knows it or he'll be out kicking cans at the end of the year

But the OSU administration probably won't have to worry about firing dipshit Day if he loses to Michigan again. The lunatic OSU fanbase will probably have a lynching party in downtown Columbus

All I will say is that Indiana looks more fine-tuned than OSU. Talent isn't the only measure of how good a team will be. How well they execute together also matters. In a couple weeks I won't be surprised in Indiana beats OSU..

My guess is that he wants to stay at Indiana and isn't looking to leave. He doesn't strike me as a guy who suffers fools so I doubt that he would want to go a SEC school in the south.
They are already working on a new contract for ten years.
There are a couple of big donors determined to see that he stays at IU,money will NOT be an issue.
The AD took a chance on him and struck gold.
He was available when you hired Rhule and no doubt could have had him as your coach.
He has already mentioned he intends on this being his last coaching gig.
Of course money talks and if someone dangles an insane amount of money in front of him,who knows?

Therein lies the challenge with NU’s ability to hire a new football coach. Coaches with Cignetti’s background wouldn’t meet the requirements to be a good candidate.

Mid 60's and has moved a lot. He is going to stay, this magical season will be great for them. They will never come close to it again.

Probably too old to spend a lot of money and doubtful that he likes his kids. I’d say he’s playing for the statue they’ll put up in front of the stadium

That’s because all of the search criteria is superficial. These committees are a joke. They go out and hire the most obvious candidate and then pat themselves on the back

It boggles my mind that an AD would use a search firm. Now, I sort of get if you are using them just as the middle man to keep things "secret" but if you are the AD and you have no ****ing clue who to hire, you should not be an AD.

Ahhhh the Good 'Ol says... remember when that was us??? now we just want 6 wins to go to a $hitty bowl game to claim some semblance of relevancy

Weak leaders like consensus. They like to spread the blame around. Safety in numbers.

Holy shit, is that guy an IU football fan? Amazing!!!!
Sure am,I came over here and didn’t say anything bad about your program.
I’ve seen a lot of very bad football over the years.
But I kept going,I enjoy college football.
Then we have ONE great year and suddenly fanbases start making smart ass, clever comments like yours.
Been accused of cheating which is just totally ridiculous.
Yeah,it won’t last and we will probably get blasted by Ohio Stste and that’s ok,it’s been a year to remember for lowly, pathetic Indiana fans.
The funny thing is if this was you guys I’d be rooting for ya.
I’ve come here once or twice before and everyone was cordial.
Don’t know what changed, but I don’t have the time to stick around and find out.
Good Luck with the reset of your season.

Was there one negative thing about IU football in this thread? Maybe that they have had an easy schedule?

Oh well, my advice, enjoy it! You are having a magical season! Don't look for reasons to get mad.

If Michigan somehow beats Ohio State again then Day will be fired.
Whoever want him should offer $20 million year he’ll flee Indiana right away
Ryan Day is currently 64-9 at OSU (that's a winning percentage of 87%). OSU would be absolute FOOLS to fire him simply for losing to Michigan.

That said, maybe it'd be better for us if they did fire him. At least then they could be crowned the stupidest school in the country, taking that title from us (since the two winning coaches we fired only had a winning percentage of around 75%).

I think the 12 team playoff saved him. OSU will make that almost every year and that "newness" will keep him around longer.
