You misspelled "third string".I think with a decent OC Chubba would be fine at the back up QB.

IF and it’s a big IF we land a guy like McCord, that would be a big signal for HH to either hit the portal or change positions. Two completely different and contrasting styles of QB. HH would never see the field again as a QB at NE.
IF we were to get a guy like Howard or Ward, then HH could still be a backup imo that will still hopefully never play as QB in a meaningful snap at NE again.
I don't see why he would leave..if they make his bank account look right...the last 2 years we have been wishing we had a good 4th string qb, due to injury and no experience..if chubby is good enough he will be on the feild. Please stay and compete for the job. We need ya man.
You become more of a one trick pony poster every day… and probs was never an athlete.Ideal backups are mentally tough, available and can be trusted to run the plays the coaches call
Purdy is none of those
Exactly, can't be content patting ourselves on the back just because we pull a QB out of the portal. Everybody else on our schedule is going to be loading up on QB's from the portal too. Things are going to get extremely competitive in this environment and we had better learn to play the game. Things are changing in the world of college football, it's adapt or die.Everybody is getting better via the portal not just Nebraska. We can't just stand still unless we're loaded and even then teams like Ohio State/Georgia are trying to get better.
I don't get this sentiment. There's nothing wrong with having a diversity of skillsets in the qb room and I would actually consider it a positive thing.IF and it’s a big IF we land a guy like McCord, that would be a big signal for HH to either hit the portal or change positions. I hate to laugh as this is sort of at HHs expense, but this is funny.Definitely not the starter next year tho 😉
Keep HH as a Taysum Hill type. He could be valuable in that role.It would be best for Nebraska to get literally anybody in the portal, and if Chubba stayed as a backup and Haarberg moved positions.
I’m guessing 2 out of those three at best.
Who needs to throw a good ball to be a TE though?? 🤷🏻♂️Ruthless is our streak of losing seasons. That is what is ruthless. What I want is to have a talented roster again. I want excellence. I want a winning f$cking season. I want us to stop settling for third rate guys at QB and pretending that under the “right” conditions they could be All Americans. I want us to stop the bull. HH stinks as a QB. So do Sims and Chubba. Not one of them is very talented. But I think Chubba at least can throw the damn ball. HH looks like he is skipping rocks when he throws with that stupid sidearm, sandlot football, delivery.
1I think NW was a better team at the end of the season than when we played them. They were on an upward trajectory the whole year. I think Colorado was the opposite. Still see us winning that game with competent QB play.Northwestern beat Wisconsin
But your point is received
You almost have to change the offense to go from a player like McCord to HH (if McCord or another high-caliber passing QB signs with us). Plus there are depth issues at LB and potentially TE that could be addressed with a relatively good athlete in HH. Also having a guy that isn't really a QB playing that position takes away from reps that would go to other backups (like Kaelin). We have had too many years of not getting our backups enough game time.I don't get this sentiment. There's nothing wrong with having a diversity of skillsets in the qb room and I would actually consider it a positive thing.
HH is valuable as a 3rd or 4th option at QB, multiple QB injury insurance. Otherwise, he is mainly as a gimmick player - wildcat, WR/TE reverse, etc..... a couple plays per game then back to the clipboard.I hope that Chubba stays. I also hope HH does not.
Chubba is the only QB we have who has shown he can run the whole offense. Not once have I said that we shouldn’t try to recruit over him. That said, we might very well add our starter via the portal but it’s unlikely we’ll add a second guy more ready to play than Chubba if called upon.Chubba is good at fumbling without being touched and throwing it to the other teams players who arent even covering anyone.
Dingle digs his hees in about chubs more than kong about hh, its not even close.
If only the entire schedule were directional schools.Give me HH.
I'll take ugly wins over pretty losses every time.
I personally want to keep Chubba as backup or third string.Chubba is the only QB we have who has shown he can run the whole offense. Not once have I said that we shouldn’t try to recruit over him. That said, we might very well add our starter via the portal but it’s unlikely we’ll add a second guy more ready to play than Chubba if called upon.
As far as his one fumble goes, he was trying to forward pitch it to Fidone. It was a poor decision probably brought on by watching too much of Mahommes. At least he can catch snaps.
It seems fumbling is contagious. In Purdy’s case I think it would be a fixable problem. Sims not so much.I personally want to keep Chubba as backup or third string.
But that unsolicited fumble he had while running the ball against Iowa? Not starter material. You're talking about the last where he willfully tried to flip the ball out to Fidone.
We're taking about when he was running untouched and the ball just magically popped out for no reason. Thankfully he recovered it mid run, but yikes...
I don’t want him to leave, but if he left it wouldn’t be for anything better, so we should not be mourning a transfer when that is the case. Please stay and compete for the job. We need ya man.
My point was we need him in the QB room competing. It would be a concern to have to start over with 2 new QBs trying to get comfortable in our offense. Chubba is a talented guy that lots of P5 programs would love to have on their roster. I’m just hoping ISU doesn’t snatch him.I don’t want him to leave, but if he left it wouldn’t be for anything better, so we should not be mourning a transfer when that is the case.
Now would he be good depth? Yes he would be but good depth is not so many teams have at QB these days.
Kind of what I’m afraid of. He helps our QB room. I’m not against bringing in 2 transfers but I think it’s very unlikely the second guy would have more potential than Chubba.I will be shocked if he is here in June if we land McCord.
sure seems like we have needed 3 over the last few yearsDang, you've lost it in going ruthless on this one...
I'd love for HH to be here til he's out of eligibility... As a TE/emergency QB.
He’d be going to ISU to be in the same situation I believeMy point was we need him in the QB room competing. I bet he would make a good LB as well.I’d like to see HH as a TE. Honestly has all the tools to be successful there and the team seems to really love him. I hope Purdy stays. We don’t have a prayer of finishing in the top half of the new B1G without great to elite QB play. It’s time for us to stop settling. And Rhule needs to get a QB coach in here. Satt ain’t the guy.
Kong-Why can’t you accept this analysis-accurate-Doesn’t try and make anyone someone they are not.In a perfect world, NU gets McCord to be QB1 and Leavett as QB2. McCord has demonstrated he is clearly way better than what we have. Leavett has much greater potential than Chubba, who would be a serviceable QB3 ( but would hope it never comes to that). HH has athleticism that projects to contributing at another position and his leadership was contagious this season. Would also be a very good emergency QB.

Hh is a heck of a teammate, leader, athlete, representative of the university. It’s pretty optimistic to think that he can be a great quarterback in any system that requires a 60-70 percent Completion rate to be Effective. He has earned the right to try. But he is also too good an athlete to keep off the field In some capacity, Even if, God forbid, he is playing another position.
Maybe, but not his only argument… he paired that argument with the argument that said many who disagreed with him were crapping on the Nebraska born and raised kid and how sad that was.Kong will/can defend himself. But I don’t think his argument was HH at all cost. It was HH vs. the other 2 QBs we had on the roster this year. I think he said a healthy HH was our best chance to win compared to Sims and Chubba. FWIW, i agreed with that sentiment. Everyone agrees we need an upgrade in the portal - even Kong.
in other words, everything purdy is not.Hh is a heck of a teammate, leader, athlete, representative of the university.
How do you know? Do you know Chubba personally? Do you deny that Chubba throws a nicer football, appears to be able to drive the team under duress? Do you think HH is incapable of having a leadership role in any other position than QB?in other words, everything purdy is not.
the coaching staff are painting themselves into quite the corner with this full court publicity blitz at the quarterback position
I hope for their (and our) sake they don't strike out. can't imagine what that'd do to the locker room.
chubba cannot even face the media after losing a game. drive the team under duress? he pissed himself at the end of all 3 games he played. How do you know? Do you know Chubba personally? Let’s put it this way, if I was HH and you were my father, I would tell you to shut the F up.
no balloonsWhat will we bitch about if we actually return to decent football?
Can you do anything but Insult players and coaches character? Be obnoxious to everyone else?chubba cannot even face the media after losing a game. drive the team under duress? he pissed himself at the end of all 3 games he played.
last throw vs maryland - INT
last throw vs wisconsin - INT
last throw vs iowa - INT
the end.
you are obsessed with me. get a life.
Satterfield and Sean Payton are virtually the same, after all.Keep HH as a Taysum Hill type. He could be valuable in that role.
what about my post was an insult? Can you do anything but Insult players and coaches character? Be obnoxious to everyone else?
