Chase Williams, 4 star CB... N!!

I absolutely love the focus on California. In just 5 months, Donté Williams has gotten Eric Fuller, Brendan (Bookie) Radley-Hiles, Chase Williams and Elijah Blades to sign/commit to Nebraska. We simply just do not have the quantity of talent that the coasts and south do.

Hometown schools like USC and UCLA have got to be scratching their heads. I know these 2018 kids haven't signed yet, but the Williams Bros have got to be on several head coach's radar. Bam! Take that!

On a similar note, does anyone have an update on 500MR prospects—especially in Missouri? (other than potentially Mario Goodrich)

Class will basically be done by the time fall classes start. Love it

Wait... isn't our recruiting success in California due to KJSr and KeyJr? That's what we were told by a few last year...

This is an awesome get!

Is that Rivals profile right? Says he is 6'1" 175

I wondered the same thing!

In the video he posted, he looks tall compared to the kids beside him.

If he is only 6'1", I would think he was at least 190 from some of the pics of him.

Another site lists 6'2" 175 while a third site says 6'1" 180.
The Hudl site says 6'2" 193, which sounds a little more accurate.

We better slow down the recruiting momentum... if the class fills by September, from September to February certain posters are gonna complain that we haven't gotten a single recruit during that time. I hope the coaches know what they're doing sealing this class up so early...
That will give them more time to play checkers with the Lincoln High coach and ask about all that top talent they putting out. So sad..some of our "fans"...SMH...

Its looking like we're going to land some "BIG" recruits here very soon in Bleich and Avery. I think Avery, if we land him, is going to wind up being the most important member of the class in terms of functionality; he is like a perfectly designed, factory-assembled nose tackle. Those are rare, especially ones that have as high a ceiling as he does. Just my two cents.

Bookie has been a huge addition, in terms of peer recruiting and the fact that he's one of the best players in the 2018 class nationwide. Also our coaches are landing some serious talent right now. I haven't been THIS happy with Nebraska since the Eric Crouch years. In about 2 years, we're going to be one nasty, hard-hitting, high-scoring team. GBR!

In a way it makes perfect sense. I have read a number of these kids remark that on the coast football is more of an after thought. Let them visit a state where it's thought about 24/7, 365. They want to play somewhere where the game is as important to the community as it is to the player.

That's exactly why I thought California recruiting was such a great idea. Football on the West Coast is popular, but not nearly as popular as it is in the Midwest and South, especially at the college level. On top of that, the West Coast is HUGE, population-wise. Last factor: There are a very limited number of great teams with good football traditions out there (Washington, USC, UCLA, and now Oregon are really it). This means there are a lot of talented players there, but a very limited number of schools to take them if they feel like staying local.

Next, the South has a TON of successful football programs, so pulling kids out of there is just flat out difficult. In New England and the Rust Belt, Michigan, Penn State, and Ohio State are pretty dominant.

The only place similar to California that we've landed a lot of talent out of is Texas, because for years, only like 2 programs in the massive, football-crazy state were any good. Oklahoma benefited from that, too.

Now that we're really focusing on talented players from Cali, we're going to be getting a lot of great recruits. Keep that pipeline built up and keep kids coming here, and we'll be smoking the Big Ten West for years.

The one region of the country that we have recently dipped our toes into is the south— Florida and Georgia especially. Those 2 states alone account for nearly HALF of the Top 300 players across all recruiting services. I don't know if it's just me, but watching those tapes of those athletes knows that it's a different breed of high school football down there.

The fact that we are starting to get into small IMG circles with BRH and Joshua Moore is absolutely huge moving forward. I know schools like Alabama, LSU, Florida, Florida State, Clemson—and even more so Miami now with Richt—typically dominate that region, but I am just wondering what your guys' thoughts for Riley's staff. Urban Meyer and Jim Harbaugh value this region very highly, as they are in on several athletes from the south. Meyer obviously knows it's important as he coached at Florida. And as we can see at this very moment, there's no denying that top talent wants to play with top talent. I also realize that Riley's strength is California recruiting. But with that said, are we going to have more success there this year (and in the future) because of peer recruiting?
