Chances of playing ball this weekend?!?!

Per the LJS, Erstad is basically ruling out being able to play at Haymarket Park this weekend and is looking for an alternate location.

- the Omaha Stormchasers are home this weekend, so Werner Park is likely out

- Sherman Field in Lincoln is underwater

- TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha is likely out due to the Garth Brooks concerts

- Many high schools are also looking for facilities in the Lincoln and Omaha areas as their postseason tournaments are under way

- Erstad would like to find something within 2 to 2 1/2 hours of Lincoln if at all possible. Kansas State is home this weekend and Kansas' field has water issues as well as fields in Kansas City.

- With a good chance of rain on Sunday, the Huskers are hoping to be able to play a doubleheader on Saturday

Iowa Western in Council Bluffs? I know at least their infield is turf, not sure about the outfield.

Storm Chasers play at 7pm on Saturday, so they could potentially get in a double header at Werner if they started around 11am.

To be honest, if we don't play this series our chances of making the Big Ten Tourney take a huge hit. Unless we win 2/3 at Illinois which I don't see happening unfortunately.

Does anyone have a scenario if we don't play this series both Big Ten seeding wise and RPI wise?

Well, we can get in the B1G tourney w/o the Purdue games but it's easier with wins v Purdue. Pocket those three and we move ahead of Indiana needing only to match their wins v OSU with our wins over ILL to stay ahead. They only have OSU left.

Without the Purdue games the situation flips in Indiana's favor. They will just need to match our ILL wins to stay ahead. If they fail v OSU and we win v ILL we get 7th place.

Staying ahead of Minnesota is mathematically easier with three Purdue wins. They have six games left and would need 5-1 if we blank at ILL. If we win one they need 6-0. Any other combo and they're eliminated.

Without the Purdue games Minnesota needs 3-3 or they're out. 2-4 or worse they can't catch us. If they go 3-3 we will need one win at ILL and so forth. They can freeze us out if they go 6-0. They play Iowa and MSU.

Without the Purdue games Minny has a reasonable shot at us. With three Purdue wins in hand, Minny has very long shot odds to over take us.

RPI? Best case scenario is to play them at Purdue but that doesn't seem to be in the conversation. Bummer. Second best is not play them at all. We're going to take an SOS hit by playing them and only road wins would balance that off. Neutral site wins would help a little.
