Hiring Tim Miles? Ok, I get Solich, Pelini and Erstad(yeah I said it) but... Miles had an exemplary record of building programs plus an affable charismatic personality that could charm Ebenezer Scrooge. So... What would you have done considering the other canidates?
If anyone says they wouldn't have hired Tim Miles at that time they're straight full of it IMO. Tim is one hell of a salesman. We've all witnessed his charm but unfortunately he's a bit less of a coach.
Yes, pretty much every hire that our beloved Dr. Tom made was a huge embarrassing failure in epic proportions. Can't deny it. But I woulda hired Tim Miles too and I would've been just as wrong. And it's too bad. He's a great personality to have representing your program. But in the end.. He just doesn't win and there's no real reason to believe it will change.
Summary: Can't blame T.O. for Miles, Miles can't coach and as much as I don't like it I can no longer deny it.
