Came on here this evening and thought maybe somebody would be

who is he replacing? Injuries? I must have missed it in all of this wonderful reporting on here.

discussing the O-line changes for this weekend. Nope. Farniok maybe going to get a start at guard.

Sad it takes a bye week and a staff realizing that their jobs are on the line to finally decide that they should strongly consider playing talented backups on the offensive line given how poorly the starters have played this year.

I don't mean to bring this up in a thread where Tanner Farmer might be getting replaced by Farniok, but it reminded me that he posts on this forum and I am curious what Tanner's dad would be willing to share with us (if anything) about the team's morale and Riley being on the hot seat is affecting the team.

I think coach cab needs to worry about his job if Riley is retained for 2018.

Just like the Husker online article today just said, Gerald Foster commented on how bad the offense of wine was playing at the beginning of the year.

The offense of line really better step up on running plays and play some smash mouth football.

I just caught the tail end of a piece on 590 today. I'm not sure what the deal is or if it's a certainty that he's starting. They were talking about an offensive line shakeup but it sounded like it's going to be Farniok at guard and Jaimes at tackle on the right side.

Youth movement; three underclassmen on the Oline to go with Gates and Gerald.

Not surprised to see a switch at RG, but I would have thought BOE Wilson would get the nod. Farniok must have really impressed. Does he still have the cast on his hand?

Where does Wilson fit in all of this? Wasn't he pushing Farmer for the starting guard spot last year as a true frost?

I wonder why it has been so hard to find offensive tackles the last few years. Jaimes might end up being a good one, but Gates is really an OG playing OT. Knevel's ankle is made of glass. Farniok is probably better suited to the interior.

With Farniok moving inside we have a real problem with our future at OT. A lot of good looking young players on the interior, but basically just Jaimes at OT. Scary

Is Sichterman considered a tackle? I wonder how he has looked. What about Walker?

I don't know, Farniok hasn't done anything impressive in his time at OT. Hopefully the move inside really helps him.

Hopefully it works out like the Sterup move. Struggled at OT, but was a huge upgrade at OG.

Virtually every college OT that gets evaluated for the NFL gets told they fit better inside. Playing OT for the passing game in particular takes a special kind of athlete with quick feet, size, wingspan etc. Those kind of guys just don't grow on trees so in college there are a bunch of guys playing OT that aren't ideal there. Teams like Bama get em and then you find guys at smaller programs a lot of times that developed in college. It's just hard to find that true tackle coming out of high school because you're usually guessing at how they'll develop. Think about it. You're trying to recruit a 17 year old who is 6-4 or taller, with a long wing span, who weighs 300 and has quick feet. Some kids are going to grow in to that but it's tough to gauge. You're maybe better off recruiting a big high school TE and building an OT. That's what most of the Dakota schools try to do. A good friend's kid played WR in high school and now starts at OT for SDSU weighing in at 305 and 6-6. They built him there.
