Calvin Jones has passed

Him and Derek Jones were the 1-2 punch when I began my fanhood of the Huskers. I used to draw pictures of them both all day long in grade school.

How I became a Husker fan was simple: I moved to the northern IN area from Buffalo, NY area (southern tier, Chautauqua lake). Moving here everyone was an ND fan. I didn't even know what CFB was when I was 7 but ND was everywhere. Me being the contrarian by nature, I couldn't like the same team everyone else did!! First game I ever watched was Mickey Joseph led Huskers get pummeled by Oklahoma. I had my own TV in my very own bedroom. This was a big deal in the early 90s. I followed Nebraska intently ever since that game. My fanhood gave me an identity against the ND crusade. It paid off once Tommie Frazier took over and we stopped losing badly to the FL teams.

Sad to hear he passed so young. I'm glad it brought up such positive memories of my childhood. May God rest his soul
