Bye, BYE Crayton

Creighton will NOT be in the dance next year with what they will likely have back. Patton is one. Foster could bolt as well. I'll take NU in a bet next year even in Omaha.

I am as big of a Creighton hater as the next guy but until Miles and company show even a hint of competence on how to defend the pick and roll or the pick and pop nobody in their right mind should pick Nebraska over Creighton. It's why teams like Mich and Creighton continue to bash our brains in. But, it never fails..pre game Miles will say "we just need to do us" as opposed to adjusting. The "process" works.

To add on to this...we are 22/101 from the three point line against Creighton under Miles. And when playing us, they dare us to shoot the three. But, I'm sure that has little to do with the roster Miles has assembled over the years. The good news is I see Miles has targeted a few JUCO players that had good years beyond the arc. Better late than never. Maybe it has clicked with Miles that in order to "love the rim" you have to actually strike an ounce of fear into your opponents beyond the arc.

Patton is probably gone. He was no doubt a fun player to watch, but are they really going to miss what he actually produced? About 12 points and 6 or 7 rebounds a game? He could come off his defender and swat a shot or two, and got some sweet offensive rbs/tipins, but from what I saw, he couldn't defend guys one on one in the post, and couldn't post-up or back down any defender (including a lot of very average college posts). Opposing bigs almost always outscored Patton. Once he lost Watson's ability to drive and dish or hit him with the alley oops off the pick and roll, his offensive production dropped. If he gets drafted this year, it is on potential alone, and IMO he will never be a true 5 in the NBA. Depending on who they can get to replace him on the inside, they may actually find more production at the 5 than they got out of Patton this year (especially late in the year). I hope the kid has really good and honest people in his ear, because he seems pretty immature, even for an 18 or 19 year old.

They don't have any other true center on the roster...so yes they will assuming he leaves. Hegner will start in his spot most likely and he's not anywhere close to what Patton can provide.

If someone looks at Patton and wants to develop him into a true 5, they are wasting their time. He is clearly more Porzingis than Shaq.

The problem for him is that his draft stock may not get any higher if he comes back. The top 12-15 players most every year are 1 and dones or 19 year old Euros.

They have rarely had a true center. Hegner is a better rebounder and on ball defender than Patton right now, he just doesn't pose a threat to protect the rim. Offensive game is totally different. Plus MacDermott has had better luck with getting transfers than most.
