Brock Huard on stadium environment

"I have never been in an environment like this before, this place was rocking, I hope we can do it again sometime." Earlier he said something like, "I can hear the crowd noise through the headphones, that never happened before."

Way to bring it fans who were there!!!

Awesome comments from an outsider on the environment in Lincoln. All Husker fans should be proud and try to make every game like this.

I thought Brock was petty "fair and balanced" personally. Not sure what else anyone could ask for in an announcer. He was complimentary when the situation allowed for it, had experience playing there and worked said experience in appropriately, was very complimentary of our program overall. Seriously, what more could you ask for? We have local radio guys to give you all the homer-ism you need if that's what you're into, and their good to, but Brock does a good job for fans of both teams, like he's supposed to.

I thought Brock did very well. He did seem to disagree with a few of the key calls against Oregon, which made it seem like he was out against Nebraska (which he wasn't), but overall, he was fair and very complimentary of the crowd, atmosphere and players.

Huard did a great job calling the game. Love it!

Some of those calls were head scratchers (to put it mildly) that I'm sure this board would have had a problem with, had they gone against us. That PI call against Oregon in the second half was the biggest head scratcher, and the ref failing to "sit on" top of the ball so it couldn't be hiked so Oregon could make a substitution were huge, and unless I'm missing something, were pretty bogus calls. Having said that, I am only mostly sure, perhaps others could explain further, but I thought Oregon had a real legit beef with some of those calls.

I looked at it a different way. I thought it was pretty cool how the coaching staff got away with that and kept Oregon from substituting. Made me laugh.

Stadium was loud all game. After the disastrous turnover in the second quarter, you could sense the hush beginning to take over the crowd. That was quickly gone after DPL's punt return. The crowd noise following Tommy's touchdown run had people jumping up and down and it was crazy loud. The final possession by Oregon was unbelievably loud. I could not talk to my daughter unless I yelled in her ear.

Loved the result, but they had a legit beef. If I'm not mistaken didn't it go from 3rd & 6, to 3rd & 1 on that? Am I remembering that correctly? Huge momentum shift on a bogus penalty.

I was at the game and in that end zone and had a clear shot at the Oregon bench and honestly, Oregon had a chance to substitute but DIDN'T. They were too busy bitching about something on th previous play. I'm looking forward to watching it again on TV but I remember thinking that they had nothing to complain about because they had time to substitute they just didn't use it until it was too late. Refs can't do their jobs for them.

Ahhh, they pulled a Pelini

Huard's a real jacka$$ for all those good things he was saying about us. His older brother also was QB for UW, though I don't think we ever played him.

yep, he was really pissed at Grant at the time
if I remember right, they had a noise meter at that game because washington had some 3 teir stands that were supposed to make a lot of noise

I won't forget the Husker fans doing the HUSKER...POWER side to side chants during the entire timeout between quarter 3 & 4. AWESOME!!! Crowd was so fun...players played into it (something we haven't seen in a while). Riley showed us he has the nads to make gutsy calls needed to win a big game (I wasn't personally sure on that prior to this game...am now)

Kudos to the ath dept for doing less commercials and more songs during breaks...helps keep the fans in it. As much BS as the students have unnecessarily taken the last few years, they were loud & great too. I guess we'll have to let the band wagon fans (basketball guys...wink, wink) back into the games now :rolleyes:

GBR

I am 62 and have been to probably 250 games (lifetime) and that was the best crowd (except maybe Colorado back in the 90's when we smoked them after both coming in ranked 7th I believe). The crowd got a little quiet when Oregon went up by 13 points but I was impressed. I'm worried about a Northwestern let down, but I am more hopeful for the first time in many years!

Agree. From beginning to end the loudest I've ever heard it.
