Look, you can blame Fred for the talent I suppose, but I don't think people are realistic about who we can get to come here. Perception is reality, and our reality is the perception. We are literally the worst ever as a program. But my point is not to argue that.
It is shocking the last two games at how bad our guys are at getting the ball in the hoop. How are they even college basketball players?
I think this team has overachieved this year. Fred is a great in game coach and obviously has great sets and game plans. However, a valid criticism is our starts. We need to change something up in practice to prepare for the starts.
Bottom line Fred is a great coach but can we ever get enough talent? Losing BW and JG will hurt, but everyone else sucks.

Fred must be the first great in-game coach ever with such a horrible won-loss record.. His B1G record is now 37-80. Imagine the record if he was a bad coach.
He seems like a nice guy and I admire how he has overcome major health concerns. But a great in-game coach?

The last few games, NU doesn't deserve to be in the Tourney.

Win at Ohio state and it negates minny loss . Tough task though
I’m not thinking that way. Winning 2 or 3 in big ten tournament will negate the Minny loss. Ohio State was needed either way. So is a win over a somehow even more pathetic than us Iowa.
Nebraska just had to go 2-2 in the last four games. They are 0-2. Win the next two and they are in. Not feeling good about them going g 2-0 though
Especially with Ohio State needing a win as much or more than we do. And it's their home court.
Backs are against the wall for sure….which team will show up at tip off?
I think they have to get minimum of 1 win in big ten tournament to be sure. If not probably in 1st round game in Dayton?
Play well the 1st 5 minutes of each half. These dreadful slow starts are killing us.
I’m just going back to what I hoped for after the first three years. Play hard and as a team. For the most part, they’ve done that the last three years. What I really noticed, other than the fact we can’t shoot, is we’re lacking strong leadership. Josiah was the heart of our team last year. Who’s the heart this year? I don’t know. That’s got me really worried for the next three games or two, if we don’t make the conference tournament.
He took over one of the worst programs in D1 basketball history, of course he got some L’s early on. Instead of showing his overall record, why not show the last 3 years record showing that he improved the program?
No, he took over a bubble program just 1 year removed from a tourney appearance and B1G coach of the year award
He took over a roster with only one player returning - Thorir Thorbjarnarson. He had to put together an entire roster in a few months. I don't really judge him much on those first two seasons.
I was replying to the post that said he is a “great in-game coach.” Maybe you don’t like my rationale for disagreeing but you surely wouldn’t describe him as “great” in any facet of his job? Is he better than some prior coaches? I imagine he is but that is about the lowest possible bar.
Do I want him fired? Probably not yet but he better start buying some better players or he will be fired. I think this AD is serious about his job and he has no ties to Fred.
