Gotta love the speed these coaches are going after.

This class has a number if players who will compete right away for spots, especially on D. This tells me the staff needs a need for a big shift of talent. Upgrade variety.

Four-star offensive dynamo Miles Jones commits to Nebraska

Miles Jones’ commitment to Nebraska comes roughly 48 hours after the four-star athlete backed off his longstanding pledge to Vanderbilt.

The fact that Jones has chosen the Huskers isn’t exactly a shock, but fans in Lincoln won’t care much about the missing surprise.

“I felt Nebraska had an edge on every other school in terms of getting me mentally and physically prepared to compete in college and in the NFL,” Jones said of the driving force behind his choice.

Jones’ official visit to Lincoln played a major part in his decision, sure, but the Florida product insists the trip only confirmed what he already suspected. He entered the weekend with certain expectations and it didn’t take long for the program to meet them.

“Before I went on the visit to Nebraska I did a lot of research on my own,” Jones said. “I asked my former high school teammate, Willie Hampton, how it was up there and he said ‘It’s lit.’ It was definitely lit.”

As for his fit in the offense, that’s a topic that had been discussed in detail. This wasn’t a commitment based on a whim. Instead, Jones says, the new Nebraska staff eliminated any uncertainty on that front.

“Coach (Troy) Walters reviewed game film with me — film of all 13 UCF games and he showed me exactly how I would be used in the offense,” Jones said. “I’m being recruited as a receiver, but will spend time in both the receiver and running back position rooms with Coach Walters and Coach (Ryan) Held.”

Jones attends Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage High School and, as a senior, served as an offensive focal point and return man on a state championship team. He hopes his commitment and the larger 2018 Nebraska class in the start of a trend.

“Nebraska is the best-kept secret," Jones said. “Florida guys would love it.”

247 sports has him as 3*....

Welcome aboard were getting faster and faster.

Miles commitment gives us 6 4 stars now. NU has a legit shot at another 3-5 4 stars to end this class. If that happens, this staff has recruited beyond expectations in the short time they've been here. Heck, they've already exceeded expectations IMO.

this must be fake news. Why our very own husker fans residing in the sunshine state have assured us that it is simply not possible for us to recruit out of florida.

Of course as I type this in frigid arizona where there is snow in the grand canyon, i’m thinking maybe NU isn’t looking quite so bad.
