Bo reprimanded

50/50 on whether some of the posters here need more mental help than Bo. FWIW I have to ask if the guy won 9 games and ruined your "precious", what do you think of our current losing record? Has your "precious" been restored this year with the new coach? Or, is one OK with losing as long as the media says he's a good dude?

Move on is the right approach. The sooner the better. GBR

Why even bring the guy up? He's a huge black eye for the college sport of football IMO.

Well, I'm the not one who brought him up. But the fact that he's a huge black eye would be one reason to bring him up. The fact that he was the coach here less than a year ago is another. I get wanting to move on. But you guys act like's been gone a decade. He's barely been gone 10 months.

And if you don't want to talk about him,I'd suggest you not comment in a thread that's very clearly talking about him. It's not that freaking hard to grasp, no matter how closely or not you're following

Seriously, do you really believe those that are behind Riley like the record? You haven't seen the hundreds of posts saying Riley has to clean up Bo's mess before the record reflects progress? Will he turn it around? Maybe, maybe not. But if you think he inherited a good situation here then by all means, go ahead and just point at his record, while many of us shake our heads at you.

Give the guy a chance before judging him after not even 1 season. He seems to be turning things in a good direction. If (big if I might add) he beats Iowa no question in my mind he is an upgrade over Bo in spite of the record and the future is bright.

Classic case of perception vs reality. Funny that Bo and Doc were perceived, and labelled, as bad coaches yet both of their replacements actually have fared worse in actual results than they did. It's move on time from both (and has been for quite some time). GBR

I guess you're right. It is pointless to give the guy time. We need to move forward now before we get even farther behind! Who gives a rip about the state of the program when he started here... It's all about the W's, and he clearly is in over his head on this one.

I wish you would have spoken up sooner about this so that I wouldn't have gotten my hopes up about the possibility of Riley being successful here. Now all I can do is mope around and piss and moan until he's fired...

Do whatever you want. Riley could lose every game and still isn't going anywhere for at least another yr. That's a fact. I also hope he does well here...everyone would benefit from that. The facts are he's been coaching in college for 20 yrs and we're seeing similar results to those he's produced in the past. I like the guy and I'm ready for him to put up an elite number of wins in a season, and get the program back into the top 20. All I ask is that people be consistent and fair (and I realize that is a lot to ask here) in their opinions of coaches. Personally, I care about winning games more than press conferences but to each their own.

When you say consistent and fair what do you mean?

We've danced to this tune so much on this board it's sickening. His record at Oregon state is very average... But why can't it be possible that it was due to location, facilities, tradition, etc. smarter people than you have praised the hire and said give the guy a chance considering the fragility of the program.

Is it consistent and fair to write him off before a season is completed?

You say you want people to be fair, and then immediately follow it up with a stupid and unfair comment? Well done.

Thanks. How enlightening and flattering of a statement. I'll pretend that you understand my opinion (even if you aren't capable). Perhaps fairness is not a virtue that you embody. Before you continue on with the false labels, know again that I want nothing more than Riley succeeding here (and that includes the Win column. If he goes .500 the next few seasons, NO, I don't consider that being successful at Nebraska as the football coach). GBR

I'm pretty sure there aren't too many on here that will argue if he has a .500 record over a sustained period of time it won't be considered successful. Who has said otherwise?

You were the one who talked about treating the situation consistently and fairly, but before that you were also the one who said "Move on is the right approach. The sooner the better." What did you mean by that? I took that to mean we need to move on from Riley as soon as possible. That doesn't sound like you're giving the guy a fair shake...

In his PC yesterday Bo still feels the call was wrong, says he has regrets about the incident, but hopes others have regrets too (meaning the officials). The most unfortunate thing is a player said, “Sometimes life isn’t fair,” Webb said. “Our job is to give it our all. We did that, and at the end of the day, it wasn’t what we wanted. Now we have to do the same thing this week.”

It is too bad a whole new crop is being brainwashed that various boogymen are out to get them (in this case, officials calling games unfairly).
