Now that there’s game film on their QB, Nebraska has no excuses on defense. He throws a decent ball, but the lack of experience should be a liability for the piss yellow team. Recent past Nebraska teams have made some very mediocre QBs look like Tom Brady, hopefully that’s changed.

Everything is more difficult in the cold and affects both teams equally.

This game means much more to Iowa fans than Nebraska fans. It was hilarious to watch an entire section of adult Iowa fans screaming and trying to wrestle the trophy away from the Nebraska players in 2022. There’s even an article written by a national, unbiased writer about the poor sportsmanship shown by Iowa fans. @SWIowahawks please address the poor sportsmanship of Iowa fans in 2022, you have never seen that type of behavior from Nebraska fans toward Iowa.

Fans may not but clearly our players have embraced it. Their players have embraced it from day one. When someone takes great enjoyment in kicking your ass every year it tends to change your thoughts process.

I can tell how Garrett and those guys reacted to getting that trophy last time in Iowa City they they have clearly "embraced the hate*.

Whether we as fans embrace it or not doesn't matter as much.

What I've found is that somehow our fans ( not u necessarily) don't wanna embrace it because they don't view Iowa as our equal historically . They don't wanna give up that feeling of superiority by admitting it means a bit more. I get it.. unfortunately for us in the here and now they have been the better program. I'm finally glad our players embrace it no matter what we do as fans.


I want all the smoke with Iowa...and I can say that and STILL think we are a historically better program than them. The 90s can't save us Friday night. We gotta go earn that shit!!

Iowa is the only team we've played every year since joining the B1G in 2010. They are the only B1G team we are guaranteed to play every year. No need to disparage the ugly trophy. We are officially rivals at this point in time.

Agreed, Plenty of people from the other fan base work together and some have friends just as myself and neighbors.

We maybe friends and like one another or neighbors, but we hate each other sports teams some teams more than the other…

I get that. In fact I don't live in Nebraska either and rarely ever encounter Iowa fans here in South Carolina. I felt the same way you did initially about the "rivalry". In fact probably like most Nebraska fans did/do. You are right it was "forced" and coming in we probably felt superior to Iowa. Hell I still feel that way. I go back to 1981 Clemson vs Nebraska in the Orange Bowl. So it's deep rooted and I'm not a youngster lol

I think the fact that no other fan base outside of maybe Colorado in its hey day enjoyed kicking Nebraska's ass more than Iowa does. So even though I understand how most fans feel I want and am glad our team is attacking them with the same vitriol they they attack us with .

Again it's probably an unpopular opinion that I have but let's be real. CU and Nebraska didn't really be one anything until they started kicking out ass 3 outta 4 or 5 years I think.

Iowa has done that in a much higher scale so yeah it bothers me even though I don't hear much from them.

That's very true. I don't discount the significance of that either. I guess for me at some point idc about the circumstances. When I'm getting my ass kicked routinely by someone who truly enjoys my misery it bothers me. I think the players finally feel that way. Whether the fans do or not.

OSU kicks our ass but I don't think it matters to them much. It MATTERS to Iowa from HC on down to the fans. Our team gets that and I'm glad even at our lowest we have finally accepted the challenge and attack them "where you are".

5-7 or 11-1 getting your ass kicked matters. Especially when they are the ones doing it. Again I know I'm in the minority here. It's ok...

Iowa has a slow defense - the main reason they run a ton of zone. Make thier LBs play in space and take a few shots deep. It's really about playing smart and taking what they give you.

I am selling my soul to stop the run and will pat their 3rd string qb on the back if he makes throws to beat us.

Iowas defense isn't slow.

I agree about putting QB on his back but you have to earn that right. Gotta stop Johnson to even get a shot at rushing the QB.

Straight drop backs should be quicker passes. Blitzing on Iowa’s right side could lead to a sack on first down after a PA roll out. Maryland got one. I doubt he is going to be rolling out to his left.
