Black Friday Weather

Not necessarily. It’s been a decade since Iowa has won fewer than 8 games. 5 times they have won more than 8 and 4 times they have won 7 or 8 in that time frame. They won 10 last year with almost the entire defense returning. If you would have told anyone in college football that Iowa would return everyone on defense AND more than double its PPG total from last year; no one would have believed they could possibly end up only winning 7 games in the regular season. But, here we are.
Everyone outside the state of Iowa knew this is how Iowa’s season would turn out. Iowa fans are idiots to think otherwise. It has been mediocre season, rinse, repeat with your shit program since 1961. The only fans in college football that think Iowa is anything more than a middling, crap team are iowa fans.

Well Vegas did. Clarkeyes were 7.5 O/U. You Clarkeye fans thought you were a playoff team, Vegas thought other wise.

For once I’d like one of these hawkeye clowns to address the fact that the majority of Hawkeye fans were saying/posting Iowa was CFP bound while also saying/posting that Nebraska fans were delusional to think Nebraska would get to 6-8 wins. Iowa fans, including the ones ITT, are simply incapable of having a reasonable, rational discussion when Nebraska football is the topic.

Yea, my herky buddy said 10-2 at worst thinking McNamara was going to play like he did at Michigan, told him he won’t be around by the time you play us and Sullivan will be your starter..

Like us they didn’t have that difficult schedule and they were getting Washington at home after losing all their talent from the year before..
At least the B1G made them play tOSU for once..

It’s funny how quickly they’ve forgotten the a$$ kicking Nebraska gave them at Kinnick last time, absolutely manhandled and bullied them the entire game. Yes the offense took their foot off the gas in the second half, but Nebraska absolutely crushed their spirit in their house, on senior night and with a chance for them to get in the Bigten championship game.

Iowa fans are not to taken seriously, especially when it comes to Nebraska football.

Iowa has won 6 straight in Memorial Stadium. Calm yourself.

In the last five years Iowa has played…
Michigan 5 times
Penn St 4 times
OSU 2 times - Both games in Columbus

Guessing Ohio State is ok with not coming to Kinnick Stadium considering what happened last time.

You want to check those numbers again genius? Counting is hard. I'll give you 6 seasons, including this one, and you still haven't played Michigan 5 times. In the last 6 seasons you've had OSU and MI on your regular season schedule twice each. Your weak ass schedules got you in the title game twice against Michigan. So let me repeat my question: who are you blowing for these schedules?

I prefer to use since Nebraska joined the B1G conference.
Now go back doing your homework.

I truly enjoy when Iowa fans post drivel that supports my opinion of the Hawkeye fan base. Thanks clown.

Nebraska’s glory years, no matter how long ago, have ruined Iowa fans. No Iowa fan under 60 was alive the last time Iowa finished in the top 5.

My point is the Clarkeyes have only played tOSU 4 times since 2011..

Nebraska has played them 9 times.

After Legends and Leaders went away to East-West the B1G clearly matched up the three heavy’s in the West with the three heavy’s in the East.

Iowa v Penn St - Played 9 times since 2011
Wisconsin v Michigan
Nebraska v Ohio St

The thing the B1G didn’t count on was Nebraska being a lightweight instead of a heavy.

Wait, I thought you were still trying to count to 5?

Lightweight record, or not. Nebraska is, and always will be, a better TV ratings draw than KKKirks clan.

I wonder why?

Could it be?

Championships?

This thread has turned into rinse and repeat from the past decade. How about talking specifics about the game Friday?

Saw where Iowa is down a top WR and a has dude who was playing scout team QB as the starting QB. Iowa has a rep for winning over NU with duct tape and bailing wire on offense, by leaning on the run, their defense and special teams. This year is a heavier lean than normal. Also with Holgerson you’re not getting his offense which I suppose would be easier to prepare for because there’s film on it. What Iowa is likely to get is the best call sheet that can be put together from the offense Rhule had in place, and an offense that features very good young skill talent. I like NU’s chances.

Hawkeye brass sucked off a lot important people to secure such scheduling, so show show damn respect. Their extreme commitment to mediocrity is a CFB institution. Nobody works harder to be average than iowa and I don’t think we appreciate that enough. JMO and rant over/

Baffled they are favored by 5.5 for reasons listed above BUT in fairness their scout team QB appears to throw it better than their starter. Gotta shut down the run game - if we do - Husker W.

We played 2 top 10 teams and 1 top 25 team while Iowa has only 1 top 10 team and 1 top 20 team. The difference is 2 of those losses should be in our win column. We humilated tOSUs offense in their house and got royally fk's outta that win with intentionaly blatant poor officiating as there was no way the officials were gonnal let us walk out there with a win and no way they were gonna let them lose and we were able to move the ball and score 17 points on at the time the number 2 defense in the country. tOSU 285 yards of total offense 273 DONU and we 18 1st downs to their 10 and held them to 1-10 in 3rd down conversions, TOP, Total plays and held Henderson and Judkins to 64 yards total in rushing between the 2. Iowa's O also isn't even close to being in the same league as Ohio State's and the Blackshirts humilited theirs as I said.

Illinois we lost that game and was most definitely ours but the O shit all over itself. Iowa got bitch slapped through the turf and got blown out by tOSU and got beaten by Iowa St like they shoulda. Schedules are not the same. All mental errors from play calling to extremely poor player execution had been our problem NOT talent or speed. Our playing level which we proved is that of tOSU. If you wanna get technical with Iowa, if they woulda played Oregon, they woulda gotten beaten down and blown out badly. Wisconsin's D humilited their offense and held them to season low's all across the board including holding them to 16 points. Wiscy's Passing Defense is far and away better than the Chokeys. Interesting fact, Wiscons held Oregon to it's passing performance in last 3 years as Wiscy held Dillon to only 218 yards passing.

This isn't last year's Iowa Pass D as that one was stellar and they had their all world Saftey. Iowa's lost half of it's secodary as their 2 best graduated. Wisconsin has played a far tougher schedule than Iowa. Wisconsin's Pass D is ranked 13th in the nation currently but were ranked 8th going into our game and we shredded the fk out of it. Iowa's is ranked 39th. in Pass D. Iowa has a far better Rushing D than Wisconsin's but these stats this year of Iowa's came against shit teams on their schedule they didn't lose to.

The ones they lost to made the Hawkeye D their little bitch, also In their 4 losses UCLA held KJ to 49 yards rushing, tOSU held KJ to 83 yards rushing, Mchigan St held him to 98. Iowa St got trucked by him and we will hold him under 100. Iowa is dead last in the B1G in passing offense and ranked 128th out of 133 nationally while we're ranked 62nd. Wisconsin is ranked 93rd and 64th in rushing. Our Rushing D is better than Iowa's as we are 21st and they are ranked 26th. Iowa is absolutely one dimensional, even though our Pass D is ranked 66th, Iowa's Passing O is nowhere close to good enough to have a banner passing day against us period. NCAA Stat's don't lie.

This year DONU is not looking at this as a rivalry but revenge as now were gonna dish it out. Saturday, the team finally learned how to win in a game that mattered the most and even moreso with a foot on their throat!

6-5 vs 7-4. This could become a definitive game for the future of both these teams in the new landscape of today's B1G and the college football world in general. Nebraska has national recognition while Iowa can only boast about Her gallant fights vs Ohio St and Michigan. I do not know how Friday's game will turn out, but I do believe Nebraska will become a player in the playoffs soon. Iowa will soon be replacing a tenured Head Coach. Nebraska knows how difficult it is to replace a legend and his less than exemplary chosen heir that also carried a "legend" title as his replacement. 7-5, 7-5. Let us fight who ever we get for a bowl game.

Yikes. First off, both games were in Columbus. Second, I was refuting that Wisconsin was a “very good defense”. Not sure why it delved into the OSU game.

But since you made me look…..Iowa averaged 4.7 yards per play while Nebraska averaged 4.13 against them.

As much as I could twist that and try and be an asshat, I won’t. A lot of Iowa’s offense came when OSU took a large lead. So it’s not comparable.

Bottom line is that Iowa hasn’t had a game where they played two complete halves. I don’t expect that to happen Friday. It’s gonna be a special teams game.

All of those stats against the same teams go out the windows in this game. It's a rivalry and Iowa will likely play harder than than they have against anyone on their schedule. My guess is Nebraska will play as hard as they have anyone on their schedule this year. Similar to the Colorado type intensity if that's possible on the road (probably not).

All that said the team who turns it over less and makes least amount of mistakes likely wins. We won't stop Johnson but we can't let him beat us either. At some point Nebraska has to make Iowa take the ball out of his hands and make the QB make 2-3 big passes this game in order to win.

For Iowa at some point they will have to make Raiola throw 2-3 big time spaces under pressure. It's imperative Nebraska has some kind of a run game. They won't win it on the ground (Iowa defense too good) But they need the balance to be at their best. Iowa doesn't need to be balanced to win it. If we can't slow Johnson we lose.

Lot of that to say I have no clue who will win it lol. Can Nebraska be balanced on offense and slow Johnson? Can Iowa run it down Nebraska throats without needing the QB to make a few plays?

That'll decide it ...

Does Tony go heavy on first down? Do they spy Johnson? Can our DBs get their shit together and deny a scout team QB on third downs? Dana H is a wildcard. He’s spinning down the playbook with the help of the other offensive coaches. He’s a great play caller, and he said NU has a pretty big playbook that is an amalgam of stuff. So Iowa has to plan against a proven play caller who has access to a large playbook that will include plays that perhaps Iowa has not even seen. I like Nebraska’s chances.

Iowa wasn’t a heavyweight in the west. Northwestern has as much of a claim
