Black Friday Weather

Plenty of rumors for sure. Drama at the QB situation. The walk-on is definitely starting.

Jermari Harris is supposedly dinged up at QB and didn’t play against Maryland. Some say he is opting out to prepare for the draft and some say he is legit injured. CB is a liability with Nebraska’s big WRs. All OSU did was throw jump balls at #8 (who I swear is only 5’8”) for TD’s. Raiola likes throwing jump balls so some big plays are to be had, as long as they don’t hang up into the wind.
Didn’t know Jermari Harris plays QB🤔🙄

Seems they don’t allow too many night games in memorial stadium when we play conference games. Shocked this is a night game.
Well NBC has a nice contract and their the one’s that decided this during the late summer showing it on Thanksgiving weekend..

Michigan and Ohio St refuse to play any night games in November, there lies the problem ..

I thought if we lost to Wisconsin that we would also lose to Iowa. Conversely I thought if we beat Wisky we would also beat Iowa. I stand by that prediction. Especially since we beat Wisky convincingly.

I think we win by 10 points or so. There are two factors to consider. One is definitely the weather. I think it will affect both teams. It will be interesting to see how DR handles the cold, windy night. But I like his chances of dealing with the weather better than Iowa’s QB. The bottom line is we have the better QB which is huge.

The second factor is Holgorsen. Will we add even more wrinkles to the offense to keep Iowa on its heels? Because Iowa now has game tape of Holgorsen’s tweaks to our offense and they will prep for that. I would wager that Holgorsen has a few more wrinkles up his sleeve.

After watching Wisky shut down Oregon’s offense I thought they would be better than they were. Will Iowa be better than Wisky on defense? Probably, but not by much based on what I have seen.

I like our match-ups with them. Their strength on offense is their running game and that is the strong suit of our defense. Our offense will need to be able to run the ball as well. So thank God Holgorsen has correctly identified EJ as our featured back.

It will be a close game if we let Kaleb Johnson break off some long runs against us. We still let Wisconsin score 25 after they fired their OC so while I would love a blowout, i doubt that’s going to happen.
They didn't have 1 Rushing TD all of theirs were through the air! He ain' breakin off long runs against us bud. Iowa's O is one dimensional and if anyone thinks that Kaleb is gonna have a banner day is outta their ever lovin minds and better get their heads checked! Wisconsin had 115 but also had something Iowa does not have, which is a passing offense and which was able to mix things up are down to their 4th string QB. If they think that they're just gonna run it down our throats and win, Kaleb is gonna have a VERY BAD day and sticking with my guns sayin he's gonna finish with only 75-80 yards in the game.

Dylan will have 3-350 yards passing against a poor Herky Pass D unlike yesterday as before the game Wiscy was ranked 10th in the country in Passing D and are now 13th after yesterday.

I have no idea why the Hawks are favored.

You defense has played well this year and that is when we have trouble running the ball. You have a great defensive line, and it will depend on if K Johnson gets any holes to run through. Now, I am not sure how good your linebackers are at tackling, but when he has a hole a lot of LB are bouncing off him. This is why he gets so many extra yards.

The Hawks have to be able to run the ball, to keep your offense off the field. Our defense plays better not being out there all day.

I am hoping for a good game but could be a long day for the Hawks if we cannot run the ball. Nice win against the Badgers and Creighton as well.

Hope for no injuries.

It’s gonna be cold and windy. I’m afraid that favors the piss yellow team.

Iowa will run it right at us and have some success. We’ll need to score.

We got this.

Not sure either team has any extra motivation in this game although the Iowa program will always have that chip on their shoulder that the Nebraska program still gets more positive press from the national media than does Iowa. In nearly every broadcast since forever there has been a mention by an unbiased
Commentator that college football is better when Nebraska is great, you never hear the same about Iowa.

This is, however, an extremely important game to Iowa fans. There is rarely a thread on the Iowa free board that doesn’t contain at least one mention of Nebraska. The difference in the two fan bases could not be more different in regards to this game. After the loss to Nebraska in 2022 there were grown ass Iowa fans trying to wrestle the trophy away from husker players. Iowa fans simply are not capable of a rational discussion in terms of husker football.
Before the season the vast majority of Iowa fans were posting or saying that Iowa football would be a CFP team this season and then in the same breath or post saying Nebraska fans were delusional to think Nebraska could get to 6-8 wins.

Iowa sucks, but even more so, Iowa fans SUCK.

@SWIowahawks
@hexumhawk
Actually, I bet Nebraska over 7.5 wins this year.

My biggest worry is Iowa's CBs now with Harris out. Think Nebraska best chance is to just throw a bunch a jump balls to their WRs and hope for the best.

Pass efficiency defense, Iowa is 41st and Wisconsin 49th. Generally teams just run it at Wisconsin, they are 91st in defending the run.

With that said, I would not be surprised, at all, if Nebraska has success throwing the football if Raiola does not turn the ball over. Good receivers, good QB and a good coordinator. Would not begin to try and bet this game. Should be a fun game to watch.

Both teams will need to throw the football in order to avoid becoming one dimensional. If neither team can throw it very well then Iowa does have the better running game. But even so, if they cannot throw it at all I like our defense's chances against their running game. At the very least, if neither team can pass the ball well consistently then it is going to be a very low scoring slugfest. All that said, I think the winning team will be the one who does find a way to get some chunk plays via the passing game. And I think we have the better QB to get that done. Dylan has a strong arm and the short to intermediate passes he was throwing with accuracy against Wisconsin will not be that affected by the wind that much. I am more worried about what cold hands will mean for our receivers.

I just hope it doesn’t come down to ball in our hands at the end with a chance to tie or win

We are something like 1 for 50 (not kidding) in those situations over the past 10 years

If we’re going to win, it needs to look like it did under Mickey - jump out early and by multiple scores

I think key is will Nebraska linebackers fill the correct gaps? Still saw on a few Wiscy runs LB jumping up into a gap where a lineman already was and taking himself out of the play while RB went through a different gap. I think that if LBs stay gap sound, and ends contain, should be in good shape.

Turnovers will be a big factor.

In some ways I hope it does, because at some point we need to change the narrative. But would love to see a blow out in IA City.

I'm hard pressed to find even 1 win when we needed a game ending drive. 2019 Northwestern was already tied. Northwestern Hail Mary in 2014 & Iowa in 2014 I guess is 10 years.
