Terps have a tough draw, sent to Wake Forest the overall 1 seed and meeting Northeastern (44-14) who beat Maryland 9-2 three weeks ago.

Maryland won 7-2 in workmanlike fashion. Progressed evenly throughout the game, three innings with 1 run, two with 2 runs. Two solo homeruns started them off to a 2-0 lead. Savacool went six complete on 109 pitches. He struggled a bit in spots.

Indiana and Iowa start at 6PM.

Iowa is at Terre Haute hosted by #14 seed Indiana St. This regional is paired with #3 seed Arkansas.
Iowa is on the right side of the bracket and could technically meet Maryland or Indiana in an All Big Ten CWS final (yeah, like that's going to happen).

Indiana was in a back and forth game and took a 7-6 lead into the 9th needing an insurance run or two. Got five of them then set WVA down 1, 2, 3 to end the game. Indiana won 12-6.
Starter Sinnard went 2.0, Risedorph got the win and Bothwell a save.
Top two of the lineup went 4-7 and 4 hits came out of the middle guys.

Iowa held a 5-1 lead into the 9th where UNC got 3 runs but no more. Iowa won 5-4.
Morgan went 5 full and got the win, Llewellyn earned the save with two outs in his 0.2 IP.

I really hate that ESPN3 is practically extinct and we now need to pay for ESPN+ to see most of the regionals. But I hate it more that Iowa won.

I honestly this time want to see the B1G just have a good showing. As much as I loathe Iowa I just want the B1G to do well. But weirdly it's only really true for baseball

Well the Big Ten won and advanced but three of the 1 seeds fell to the loser bracket. A fourth one, Indiana St, trailed all game long until scoring 3 in the bottom of the 8th. Beat Wright St 6-5.

Losers..
Auburn - Penn worked a 3-3 tie after eight followed by a scoreless 9th and 10th. Top of the 11th Penn went double, bunt, bunt, bunt scoring 3 runs aided by a throwing error. Auburn goes 1, 2, 3 and 4 seed Penn wins 6-3.
Wow, dbl and 3 bunts, quite the 11th from Penn. Good show, eh?

Coastal Carolina - Coastal cruised to a 5-0 lead through 6 innings then Rider came up in the 7th. Two walks then the 3rd batter starts a bat show. Seven straight hits with a pair of doubles in the middle, a final hit topped off a nine run inning. There were two pitching changes.
Coastal dribbled and drabbed their way back to a tie but Rider won the 10 inning 2-1. Another 4 seed goes to the winners bracket. Rider W 11-10.

Oklahoma St - Oral Roberts lead all game long and came out a 6-4 winner. Okie St chased and chased but couldn't catch up.

Maryland got the Nebraska 2021 treatment -- win the B1G, get sent to overall #1 seed.

They beat the overall #1 in 2015 (UCLA), hope they can do it again. Otherwise I guess the Terps are going to let the B1G down...

Ouch, 21-6. Take heart though, if we extend the comparison with 2021 and tweak it a bit there's good news. The tweak is to look at the Arkansas super regional.

There, NC St came to town and promptly lost game one 21-2. Came back and beat Arky 6-5 and 3-2. Snatched the Razorback's CWS ticket.

Maybe NC St figured their 2-21 loss was really no different than a 2-3 loss.

This game was pretty much regular baseball with ground outs, pop outs and routine fly balls but one thing kinda stood out. Where Kentucky pitching issued no walks and struck out 10, Indiana did make very good use of their 8 hits. Half of them went for extra bases - 1 double, 1 triple, 2 homeruns. Nice win for the Hoosiers. Happy dugout.

Goodbye Iowa, goodbye Maryland, Indiana is still alive and will decide their fate tonight at 5 PM on ESPN+.

Iowa's pitching didn't seem to bother Indiana St too much as they put up runs in six of the nine innings. 11-8 Sycamore win. BTW, how does that school continually get good coaches? Someone over there is doing the hiring right.

If someone had told me that Maryland would put up 10 runs I would have bet the win side of that proposition. Too bad about Mason's 7 run 4th. Oops. George Mason, 11-10 win.

Kentucky got their own 7 run inning along with a bunch of other runs. 16-6 beat down of Indiana.
