Big 10 money, NU 6th in the country overall with no debt.

ohio st posts its earnings on its website

It was a record rebound for The Ohio State University Department of Athletics in 2022. Following a year when COVID-19 disruptions impacted competition, ticket sales and the fan experience, the department reported $251,615,345 in revenue, according to a new financial statement.

  • Total operating expenses for the athletic department were $225,733,418
Ohiost spends. a ton. they also win. a ton.

we like to save our money for rainy days (while losing at a historic pace)
BUT that doesn't mean they're using the same accounting practices as other schools to make it comparable.

based on that from FY 22, it would stand to reason they were $40M in the black during this recent year, which is what this is comparing

net profit

ohiost also has way way way more sports than we do - hence the spending

there's no doubt ohiost is right up there with texas in driving the most topline revenue in all of college athletics

Hey there, that's awesome news about NU ranking 6th overall and having no debt! It's great to see a university being financially responsible and thriving. Speaking of finances, if anyone here is looking for a mortgage broker in Shrewsbury, I highly recommend checking them out. They are professional, knowledgeable, and really take the time to understand their clients' needs. They helped me secure a great mortgage deal, and I'm sure they can do the same for you. Cheers!

I remember when I used to start my day off with an "eye-opener".

Agreed our ROI has been putrid as far as putting a viable product on the field.

Nebraska ranking is very very impressive, considering it is one of the lowest population states in the union. Regarding Texas and Oklahoma - no mystery here - oil. A century of it. It alters everything. Hell, there is more money in Wichita, Kansas than all of Nebraska, - oil.

I'd be curious. Was shocked to see Purdue on that list. And having little debt (paying off part of a 100 mil stadium project), they seem to be in good shape financially and in NIL.

I think under any accounting system Nebraska is in good financial shape. I'd just take direct school to school comparisons with a grain of salt.

Unbelievable. Huge fail by the athletic department and mismanagement of funds. You cannot be "profiting" if you are losing. You need to spend more until you are winning and then and only then can you consider yourself profitable. Also if I am not mistaken 1/2 of the academic side are commies who don't support football, often antagonize the program, and don't give a crap that we are huge losers in the BIG10 because of research dollars and academic prestige. Our priorities are completely out of whack. Quit being huge losers!
