Bielema....

... always thought kind of a jerk, but i'm confused on the whole kerfuffle last night... he believed SC pulled a sly one? what did the substitution sign have to do with anything?

IF ALREADY COVERED, Forgive me... i'm just cornfused😂
1) Beamer kept subbing late in the play clock, and he was complaining that Illinois was doing their responding substititions too slowly, thus giving the Gamecocks not enough time to snap the ball.

2) Illini defensive player got hurt by SC sideline, and Beamer came over and patted him in a way that insinuated he was gonna be alright and walked away immediately … bit of a *tap* *tap* “You’ll be fine, kid, get up.” vibe.

3) Bielema then walked over to said injured player to check on him and turned to the SC sideline and flashed the ref substitution signal for a prolonged period of time to both give a metaphorical middle finger to Beamer for approaching his injured player in a casual manner and then troll him for the earlier complaints.

4) Beamer got QUITE upset, to put it mildly.

5) A couple plays later, Beamer subbed even later in the play clock than before, and Illinois subbed to force the Game picks to burn a timeout. The camera showed Beamer looking incredibly upset and then flashed to Bielema laughing. This is where all of the meme gold came from.

IMO this is true. Otherwise Beamer would’ve pulled out this play in a conference game, one that actually matters, but for the fact that conference coaches have long memories.
“Not mattering” is just cope for fans who (A) lose the game so they can pathetically save face or (B) are desperate to broadcast that they still have higher standards (derived from bygone success) than the bowl game they landed in.

Both of those teams gave it all they had, it was an incredibly fun/intense game and it was far from meaningless for those involved.

Meaningless outside of maybe 200 people on the face of the earth. In that aspect, you’re correct.

them 2 coaches don't annoying me as much as I thought they would..sure Belima is hefty and beats NU like clock work because we allways underestimate him, but when he talks he sounds like a normal human..

and the sc coach I should probably dislike cause he gave us saterfeild..but he was funny in this interview...

Agreed - listened to a few pressers of Bret and was pleasantly surprised at his approach.
