Better QB- Heinrich Haarberg or Scott Frost?

John C Reilly Seriously GIF

I like HH . But you’re a moron if you believe that.
the true Husker greats are memorialized forever in the stadium

frost isn't and will never be among them

he was nothing special, the team was

we'd have won that National Title behind probably two dozen NU quarterbacks

frost '97 (12 games): 5 TD, 4 INT
HH (5 games): 5 TD, 4 INT

The morons are the ones that fell for Scott Frost's buddies strafing the Husker forums trying to rewrite history about the NU greats at QB to get him hired as head coach. He was handing the ball off to Ahman Green. Ahman Green is one of the greatest RBs in college football history. His highlights are right up there with anyone's. Brett Favre does not have a Super Bowl ring without Ahman Green.

Ahman Green was THE MAN on that NU offense and opened up so many opportunities for Scott Frost, not just on the field but in life. Without Ahman Green, Scott Frost does not have the $40 million.

I also have Heinrich Haarberg over Frost at QB. He's taller, bigger, longer, smarter, faster, more explosive, more athletic, and has a stronger throwing arm.

C'mon - Frost threw the ball a total of 159 times in 12 games. Haarberg will be close to 200 in 10 games.

Frost had about 1250 yards passing in 12 games. Haarberg will approach 2000 yards in 10

I am not a huge Frost fan, but he was a better thrower than Haarberg is currently, he was a much more fluid runner and significantly better at running the option. Haarberg looks stiff on the option and rarely if ever pitches the ball.

Haarberg does have a couple of years to perfect some of his deficiencies, but comparing Frost as a senior to a freshman Haarberg is not really fair to either player.

frost was a 53% career passer at NU (40.7%(!) at stanford) and every time he dropped back he had all day to throw to wide open guys

his throwing motion was worse than HH's and that's saying a lot

agree on the option - frost grew up running it and HH is just learning because the high schools in the state tried to emulate the lame bs frost's teams ran instead of running veer like God intended

Every time I watch old NU highlights with Frost throwing the ball as a QB, I think about what a great and honorable man Tom Osborne is. You just know there was a Make-a-Wish deal going on there, and the business people at NU just rolled with the Nebraska kid angle to make a few bucks off of it. The coaches knew they could put Caitlin Clark at QB and win a natty with the tenacious athletes we had on both sides of the ball.

Haarberg is also a 51% passer though too. In 2 years as a starter at Nebraska, Frost completed 53% for 2677 yards, 18 TD 7 INT also ran for 1533 yards, 28 TDs. Again, unfair to both players to compare a completed body of work to a Sophomore QB getting ready for his 7th game.

kinda my point

on a per snap basis, their avg production isn't all that different at the moment

so, based on that, yes, we'd have won a title in '97 with HH

I also agree the premise is ridiculous, but I appreciate hypothetical threads like these. they're fun

How about you dingle? Didn't you think Tommy Armstrong was as good if not better than Tommie Frazier? We really could have won all those championships with anybody as QB?

that's really impressive considering Favre won a Superbowl over a year before Ahman Green was drafted

Not too late to delete this, y'know

I went back and looked and you're right. I must have been thinking of Terrell Davis and Elway.

Ahman still had a nice and productive NFL career.

But we all know it’s just about not letting your team lose.

Frost: 0 losses
HH: 1 loss, an embarrassing blowout

How hard it must be for you when facts don’t back up your sensitive feelings.

Frost had a better team, but Frost also was great in his role on a 13-0 team. Very hard to truly judge other than Frost got an A in his role as a QB his senior year and HH is still a work in progress.

Um no BUT Armstrong would have won a LOT more games with Tom as his coach, playing behind Frazier’s lines, and with the weapons Frazier had. God I wish we had Tommy Armstrong right now.

It’s not hard at all. I don’t harbor extreme feelings for hypotheticals like you apparently do for me.
