Benhart

Boris Karloff Film GIF by hoppip

Forgive Benhart, he was made in a mad scientist lab..😂

I am starting to hear whispers that the OL has quit on Raiola. Apparently, from Day 1 has has berated them and torn them down, and they have had enough. There is a difference between coaching them hard (which I am in favor of) and berating them. And please, don't take any of this as a defense of players who dog it and don't give 100 percent.
Bielema did the same thing to his O line his first year at Illinois. It worked. That said, the morale of these guys HAS to be AWFUL. It’s a losing mentality. I’m not putting this on Raiola. Just 2 weeks ago we had posters on this board saying that Raiola was too soft on his line. I pointed out that Raiola was very vocal in practice. I just laugh when I think about the way Tom’s assistants could “motivate”. Ultimately the peer pressure from pipeline members is what was the best motivator. Who do we have on that line that leads? I guess I don’t see them. Who’s our dom Raiola who will kick your butt if you’re halfassing it?

Benhart is a bust. He has not gotten better and actually looks worse each year. He's just a big body with no idea how to use it effectively. This was a big recruit at the time but one of the worst examples of poor player development in the Frost years.
Another words he doesn’t look like Tarzan and plays like Jane..

Is this new? He is the worst starting lineman I have ever seen at NU. A slob that does not belong
The question remains: Do we have any other choices on the bench? If we do, the OL coach should be shown the door.

Its not a question of is there somebody else, its one of is there ANYBODY else.
I feel like I'm watching one of those YouTube videos where people record planes hovering and not moving or people frozen in time not moving. It's almost eerie.

The only OL that has shown any improvement during Frost’s tenure was Cam Jurgens, and he was an athletic freak. Hixson looks better I suppose. Countless teams put out better lines working with less talent.
Recruiting or development: coaching matters.

We blame Benhart, but why can’t Corcoran, Banks, Lynn, Miller, Conn, Anthony or any walk-on play anything resembling competent football at OT? The level of failure at the position group is astounding.

Can’t wait to turn the page.

Wtf was Greg Austin doing comes to mind? Also how did he keep his job past year 2? Dom walked into a cluster @#$% situation. The strength staff confuses me to. Why has the O line looked physically horrible the entire time Duval has been there? Outside of Cam that is.

The o line guys do that on every extra point. You just don't notice it until it gets blocked. Teams must coach this technique but I have no clue why.

Watch every other blocker on that play. They all do the same thing. It's what they are coached to do. It just happened to be Benhards guy who blocked it.

Watching that play again you can see the guy that blocked it is lined up in a way that shows exactly what he was going to do. They must have seen a weakness they could exploit on film. Not surprising at all that it involves Benhart. I would send a blitz to whatever gap hes responsible for on every play run or pass.

The entire OL is pathetic. I'm not going to single out one guy. What's sad is the starting OL is probably the best we have, and that includes Benhart. What the heck are our backups doing besides being a complete waste of space? This is on coaching though 100%. I refuse to believe we somehow missed on each and every one of these guys. We actually have been recruiting OL well in terms of rankings, among the best in the conference and competitive nationally. I don't see this as a talent issue. Between Duval making them slow puddles of jello and the past several OL coaches who don't have the slightest clue on how to instill proper technique, this is the result we get.

Yeah it's staggering. I guess I'd rather watch Anthony struggle now (or even surprise us). I think Benhart needs to ride the pine and find his way to the transfer portal. He hasn't worked out here.

My advice is to watch Big Red Wrapup tuesday at 7pm! Once it's explained to you, a light bulb will go on in your mind & you will understand! Quite simple it is! I don't have the verbiage to explain! Jay & Mike will explain!🎃🎃🎃🏈 I also think to single out players by name is not good! They have families & its not right! I should say, yes talk about a player, but don't make a complete topic on how bad they are!!
