You younger guys won't know what I am talking about but back in the day (1950's and 60's) when we older guys played football, the only shoe available was what was called a "high-top". The shoe had no cushion or soft inner liner so you wore two pairs of socks so it wouldn't feel like you were running on pavement.

Everybody wore Converse All-Stars for basketball. I don't remember if there was any other brand available. The only color was white and the material they were made out of I believe was a light weight canvas.

While I am living in the past, I remember when I was in junior high face masks weren't yet being used in high school football. No mouth guards yet so losing a tooth was not a rare occurrence.

If my memory serves me correctly.....Nebraska was wearing Converse shoes in the early 80's...

Puma's in suede is what should be on your feets when you ain't in a suit or mowing the lawn.
Adidas in suede is good, but I prefer Puma's.

When I was in second grade, and starting in a new school, i wanted some suede Puma's and a new pair of jeans to wear on the first day of school.

What I got was some brown semi-suede shoes and some Tree-Top jeans.

I tried on my new clothes, checked the mirror and thought close enough.

What I failed to do was to get another mirror and check my ass.

Big mistake.

Those jeans didn't have any back pockets.

First day at a new school and I'm wearing fake suede shoes and girl jeans.

It was terrible.

In my day we wore athletic tape and blisters... and we liked it! No fancy composite leather ball doohickey. Just a rock in a pillow case. No Nancy boy helmets. We just smashed our heads together. No doctor tom foolery. Took a salt tablet... and we liked it!

wore out 2 pairs of Riddell's in less than a month in the early 70's. got a pair of Johnny Unitas brand and the things were made like iron. got the worst blister in my life. the shoes also lasted 2 plus years and were still good as new when it was time to quit.

Don't forget the Neumann Football gloves!

Oh man, youve got a family feud happening your feet. You might know this already, but i like the story so ill tell it anyway.

The Dassler brothers had a shoe company in the 20's and started growing the brand, got Jesse Owens to wear them even.

Then in WW2, at least the story goes, only one, Rudi, had a basement suitable for hiding in during bombings. One night, as the bombs started falling and as Adi Dassler's family started entering Rudi's basement, Rudi remarked 'Here come the dirty bastards again', referring to the allied forces, and Adi took it as a slight against his family. This was made even worse by the fact that Adi and Rudi's wifes hated each other. After that Adi did a lot of shennanigans that ended up getting rudi drafted and then in trouble in the war. After the war they split the company, adi made adidas and rudi made Puma.

Moral of the story.
Both are dirty Kraut shoes.
Wear Nike or UA.
