Word is he is announcing between Arizona State and Nebraska today??? Any chance we get this kid without so much as a visit to Lincoln yet?

I believe he went to one of the camps in Lincoln this past summer.

Riley has amazed me this year with his recruiting organization. Love it. I don't particularly care where this class ends up ranked at this point. We have filled some huge needs with outstanding prospects.Cool

This prospect is a surprise to me, I haven't seen his name mentioned at all around here and appears he could be a Huskers at some point today. Lamar Jackson a Husker now only helps us out here, there buddies and 7 on 7 teammates.

Don't get me wrong as I'm excited at the possibility of getting this recruit, but is there anyway he plays wr or is he set in at rb?

Just like a kid like Jackson, you let him try any position he wants. Tremendous athlete that can play multiple positions.

Well I think he's being recruited for rb but has good size even for a wr at 6'3 just over 200lbs.

He's listed as an athlete, so sky's probly the limit for him with those measurables.

The only crystal ball update in the last 9 month is to Nebraska. All of the other ones are from last april-may and are to Oregon. Everybody says its between NU and asu so obviously that aint right. Could be a great day to be a husker if Jackson, beau, and simmons decide to be N! Even I will get #RiledUp for that haha.

6'3 is tall for an RB. Fitz was their big body, outside WR target and he's going to Louisville. Ipso facto....

But I agree with the above statement. If a kid can flat out play, get him on campus and there's plenty of time to work out where he's going to practice.

If this is true, why wouldn't he just wait to sign until after he visited? There's no rule that you have to sign on signing day. Why not visit this weekend?

I would not want to commit the next 4-5 years of my life to a school I've never visited that's 1500 miles from home.

247 has him at 90% Oregon. Is that right?
It's up in the air as far as I know. The 90% is from CB predictions for Oregon are from April and May of 2015. Tom Loy just CB predicted him to Nebraska today. Not sure if he is set on Oregon, Stanford, or Arizona State, or even if he is considering N.

I think somebody posted elsewhere that he attended a camp at NU.

Yep, don't forget Simmons too, he's also a big body outside guy.

Fully agree, can't have enough elite athletes, sort out the positions later. With how much attention the staff is putting in California, hypothetically adding another R250 guy will only help going forward.

99% sure he hasn't been on campus, but there's always that 1%. ha!

As long as Nebraska has room for him there is no need for him to worry about signing a letter of intent on Wednesday. And like you said there is no rule that you have to sign on February 3rd.

Or he could commit today, visit this weekend, and if it's not what it turns out to be for Beau, Riley could release him from his LOI. No harm in that.

Pretty sure the plan is to get him to sign then visit this weekend and if he doesn't like it, they'll let him out of his LOI

Do you think sometimes that hinders a player's development? It seems like when we bring in an Athlete, they tend to float between positions and never really seem to meet their potential. I'm sure some of it is player's drive and all and some is the Coaching.

Guess we'll see what happens with Simmons. I'd rather he plays RB if he's equally good at both, NU could really benefit from 2 quality RBs in this class. But a Forte type guy who has great hands out of the backfield never sucks.

Depends on the coach and player, kind of like you mention, but I don't think it's fair to use a blanket statement. We brought in Antonio Reed last year, wasn't sure where he'd fit in (safety, OLB, DE) and he ended up playing the defending the slot for us in the bowl game. I'm a firm believer on adding a certain number of multiple positioned athletes each year (not a lot, cap the number) and sorting it out once their on campus.

It makes position specific recruiting a little more tricky and at the same time, it allows flexibility.

Was this the RB who committed to Stanford and projects to have to play fullback?

The kid just tweeted out 90,000 then some smiley face

He could, I just don't see why he would do that instead of waiting a few more days. Makes no sense for him to rush this decision. Any program will make room a 4-star recruit.

Has a 4-star recruit ever signed with a school without visiting first? Just seems like a strange situation. He wanted to play for Oregon like his dad, but Oregon didn't want him as a RB, so he committed to Stanford. Now Stanford fans are hinting he didn't qualify academically to get into Stanford. Did we promise him he could play RB?

I don't think he was quite a 4-star recruit, but I remember Alfonzo Dennard committed to NU without ever setting foot on campus. It was a strange recruitment process. I believe he was committed to North Carolina but they dumped him right before signing day thinking he would not make grades. I remember thinking that as a Georgia kid, he had no idea what he was getting himself into and would never pan out. He obviously made it to Lincoln and had a great playing career.

@90thousand is an account name... not sure this means anything other than someone is probably tweeting him and he just responded with a geek grin

If he tweets a smiley face at an account with 1. gabrielle union 2. gabrielle union in a husker jersey and 3. proficle pic of a husker helmet that could be a good thing. Or if nothing else we got to see gabi union.
