Baylor coach proposal would help NU

Defend what they did this year all you want. Just because they did it this year does not make it right. If you want to accept what is obviously wrong that is your business. However at the same time I expect to have the right to say what I feel is wrong and not told to shut up just because that is the way it is!

First of all I never once told you to shut up. No offense, but posting something on a message board sort of opens the discussion. If your skin isn't thick enough to be challenged, then you may want to rethink posting on a message board.

The end matters more but it is more reflective on what the team is at the time of the tourney. Add in the fact that until this year it was a big deal how a team did in their last 10 games. So it was important until this season. You are saying it simply does not matter if a team improves itself thru the season. So if a team starts poorly there is very little reason to try to improve. Sorry that is not what any thing in life is about!
Actually, the last 10 games has not been a selection committee criterion for about 5 years. This is not the first year... It was actually removed for two reasons: 1) unbalanced schedules brought about by superconferences; 2) some felt that it gave an unfair advantage to mid majors who may have easier conference schedules

If the purpose of the tourney is to crown a champion then you would reduce the field not expand.

The basketball tournament has for decades been about making money and spectacle above all else, and unfortunately its popularity with casual viewers has infecting other sports including football. They will always try to find the optimum number/format that brings in the most TV sets, and are pleased as punch to have a team that had a weak regular season win the tournament "championship" because it grabs more headlines. The more random teams they can throw in there, the more chance of the "cinderella story" finish, up until the point where it starts to lose too much credibililty.

I was replying to another poster.

Did anyone communicate the change in criteria for selecting tourney teams prior to the season?

Not trying to be a smart guy, I honestly don’t know.
