We all want the men's and women's teams at UNL to do well. I don't follow our wrestling program that close but was thrilled that Coach Manning and his team could accomplish what they did this year. Perseverance and hard work paid off. I think many of us just wished that our revenue sources(including private donors) were diversified better and spread across all sports in our athletic dept.

I don't agree with this. Sure, its nice for UNL that the volleyball, or wrestling, etc are doing well. However, I simply do not care for those sports. Give it all to football and mens basketball as far as I am concerned. If I had a personal interest in a 3rd sport, use donations to build UNL a golf course that would attract other schools to visit for tournaments.
OK then LSU Basketball is not suffering because too many people are giving to Gymnastics.
You are making assumptions that donors are throwing money at volleyball players, but you have no idea if they are or not. You are basing your opinion on the fact that some volleyball players are getting paid to make commercials, which is considered NIL, but really has nothing to do with anything donation related. They are going to spend the advertising budget for their companies regardless to whether or not they donate to the athletic program.
What VB players are making commercials? Harper Murray, a Jackson , Bergan Riley ? I see nobody. They are all getting paid by 1890.
Hard to believe in Ameirca these days, but some people are still merit-based and want to reward based on merit, and be a part of a winner. People see football wasting money over the years with no return, and were told in order to resurrect the basketball program we needed to spend a bunch of money on facilities to win, and that didn't pay off, either. Volleyball actually wins so it makes sense people want to be a part of that and see their money going to that. And why not? Personally I think all money being spent on basketball should immediately go to the football program as basketball has proven to be a waste, but I'm not going to throw a hissy fit or get mad/offended if people earmark their NIL for basketball or choose to hire basketball players to represent their business. Nebraska is way behind the 8 ball in basketball and I just don't think you'll ever get the same ROI as you would for football or other sports.

I explained earlier that NIL isn't just from the collective and if they are in ads, more than likely aren't from the 1890. I took what he wrote as somewhat factual.
Some volleyball players have been in ads, I think Scooter's and Dick's Sporting Goods for sure. It was several players not just one, so I assume that an NIL collective helped arrange it?
Creighton with another good pickup from the portal, they must have some serious NIL money. I really hope Fred can find an actual point guard for once.
Not necessarily. My daughter had a deal with an apparel company that she got thru her agent.
I shared this before but my daughter has an E-commerce business An agent contacts the players and then contacts her to build the site, the e commerce side of transactions, inventory of products, new items, etc. It is completely outside of the college. She may be doing more of them, I can’t keep up with all her clients. She did say there is a “shelf life” for some of these, make the money when your name is hot and out there. This is for the QB at Tennessee. So, essentially he is capitalizing on his name and college.
Many people have told me, people who would know what they’re talking about, say our donor pool is strapped and tired of giving without results. People also say we aren’t spending enough to get top basketball players. And it’s blatantly obvious our girls are getting the best NIL deals in the state. So if you can’t add 2 plus 2 and even consider that maybe, maybe the answer is 4? Then I got nothing much else to say to you. 🤷♂️
Some people want to understand why we aren’t being competitive in basketball, results and NILwise. Some don’t care or think there is a problem. Don’t have time for them.
I always love it when people make a comment about how many layups our "bigs" missed in a game. Like the other night against ASU we struggled big time against their 7' foot center who was strong, quick and could jump. Thank goodness he got into foul trouble or we might not have pulled out the win. He either blocked our shots at the rim or altered them to the point they had no chance of going in. I wish we had someone like him on our roster.
He should start with that 7 footer that fouled out for ASU.

Even Meah was supposed to be some great rim protector. Didn't really see that out of him at all.
Hate to say it but Meah has a vertical of about 6 inches. Berke and Morgan's vertical isn't much better. We all observed it in the BIG every game and are probably challenged in this Crown Tournament also.
If cbb was a successful venture it would have a better ROI than anything except football by a fairly wide margin.

I saw that the point guard from Omaha committed to Baylor. Would have liked to get him. I hope we're going after Chase Forte from South Dakota. We need a point guard that can create something offensively. I'd be happy to take Jamarques back but I hope Fred doesn't expect him to be the point guard.
I think they need to land more talented players than that otherwise if relying on Essegian Mast and Hoiberg they will be a bubble team again. But maybe that is considered acceptable?

Number 1: I already hated Creighton enough, and they go and recruit the Top 2 players from the team that single handed ruined Nebrasketball's season in Dix and Freeman
Number 2: How is a non-tournament team bench player from the dumbest school in the history of sports a "Top Prospect"
Number 3: WE NEED ATHLETES!!! No more of the spot up shooters that literally have no side to side abilities when driving the basketball. Sandfort probably got the all full sign from creighton and that is the only reason he came here anyways
Number 4: we need someone to replace Brice Williams not Gavin Griffiths. I am tired of these lame as portal players and hyping them up like they are actually good gets. I draw the line when they are dumb @$$ Iowa transfers

Sandford is just another Essegian but more consistent outside shooter.
Need adequate point guard badly and Sam’s best roll is coming off the bench.

We need some scorers to replace Williams.
Mast will be a big upgrade over Morgan/Meah. Sandfort will be a big upgrade over Griffiths. Lawrence will be a big upgrade over Worster/Uhlis. But we need an alpha scorer or two to replace Williams, ideally one of them a point guard; and an athletic big man.
You'd think we would have enough NIL money to get a couple of studs now, I can't imagine Sandfort cost that much and I'm sure we were paying Williams and Gary a good amount.

I hope so. Dude was a good shooter, fast, and a great ball handler. i think he can be a legit point guard
Jamarques Lawrence, Pryce Sandfort and an athletic big would be excellent. Maybe a quick, ball handling point guard to play so many minutea
I would take the younger Sandfort over Dix in a heartbeat. He can play the 3 or 4 where Dix cannot. Pryce can actually defend some where as Dix is a liability on defense. Dix will fit in well with a McDermott team becuse he doesn't expend too much energy on the defensive end. There are some reasons why Iowa's team this past season gave up 90+ and 100+ points often and Dix started every game. He can shoot and score but what he gives up at the other end is a zero sum game. Let Creighton pay him plenty. Pryce is a much more complete player.
And had the commitments been reversed you would have said the same thing about Dix at Nebraska.
Dix will make a bigger impact at Creighton for one year than Sandfort will for 2 at Nebraska. Most scouts look at Dix as a plus defender, not quite the liability you make him out to be. He does play a bit high, but at the 3 in the Big East he will be fine.
Sandfort is a player that needs to spot up and hit his shot, he doesn’t create his own, so without a PG that will dish out assists, he won’t be as effective. If Nebraska gets a PG, then we can re-evaluate.
True, but don't forget the offense will often run through the high post with Rienk back in the lineup. I'm looking forward to having someone that can shoot 40% when Rienk kicks to them. Still need a PG better than we had this year.
