During the time of John Wooden, Dean Smith, Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, etc. you would see a relatively consistent product throughout the playoffs. You wouldn’t see a team score 127 one night then against the same team 2 nights later, score 81.

It’s the wages of depending on the 3-point shot and 1 player going one on one instead of having a disciplined and well planned out offense appropriate for your talent.

The Celtics inability to hold two 20+ leads in games 1 and 2 and then a 13 point lead in games 4 (all late in the 3rd quarter) is stunning and a disgrace to the game of basketball.

The same thing happens in college basketball where top 5 teams lose to teams now out of the top 40 because they rely on 3-pointers, then when they get to the dance, they can’t be hot from the outside for 6 games in a row.
