Barfnecht takes some shots at SE and Boehm

Doesn't SE have a policy about not commenting on coaches during the season? It's a good policy BTW.
I tend to agree with most of what Barfnecht says, but he always acts like he's the only reporter covering Nebraska athletics. This is a good example from the article:

"I asked NU Athletic Director Shawn Eichorst if he wanted to take the topic off the table by saying Miles will be back. Eichorst declined."

Eichorst has probably been asked by a half-dozen or more reporters this season whether or not Miles will return next year. If he didn't respond to them, I doubt that he's just going to say, "Oh yes, Lee, since it's you asking, let's settle this issue once and for all..."

made me laugh!!!!

+1

Speculation of Chris Dailey at UCONN was one of the candidates that reached out to someone affiliated with Nebraska. I have no idea if it's accurate or not but personally believe it was just that, speculation.

If there's two things I've learned over the years about Lee, (1) it's he doesn't just write articles to write them and (2) he's dialed in nationally with basketball.
The good news is that I think Amy Williams IS in fact a really good recruiter and coach. The team she left at USD is tied for the lead in their conference. This year was going to be a lost year for the lady Huskers no matter who they hired IMO. The key is how well they recruit these next two classes. We'll see if she can get er done in the B1G.

She just got a commitment from a top 100 player this weekend.

Her players at USD loved her and worked their tails off for her. I think we made a good long term hire as in maybe the next 25 years kind of hire. We'll see within the next 3 years I think. Hopefully Miles turns out to be that as well.

I've been critical of Miles' in-game coaching, but I believe he should return as I think we have many more pressing concerns in our athletic department at this time. Women's volleyball is about the only sport that is performing to the level of expectations.

Men's basketball is at least still drawing big crowds, recruiting well, and not getting blown out. That's more than you could say of Doc and Collier in their last years. And all of the respected national media guys seem to agree with Lee's assessment that Miles should stay. But I think he needs to finish in the top half of the Big Ten next year. There will be no excuses.

I think we can all agree to these terms, even the anti Miles crew couldn't disagree with this.

I don't think John Wooden would do much until what will be Williams 4th year, barring some transfers or a couple people decide to "come to Jesus".

Perhaps I spoke too soon. Down by 18 at the half to an MSU team that is playing without Eron Harris. This one could get ugly.

What are you talking about? Yori was the problem. Big fat meanie.
If by expecting the girls to show up for practice, then yes she was a "big fat meanie". I felt bad for her. She was mentally exhausted with her team, and the whole thing went rotten.

You could combine Geno Auriema with Pat Summit and I don't think they would have won much more with the talent left on this team. I hope the lazy "superstar" is happy now that she chased everyone off and is now the best player on one of the worst teams in WCB.

My bet is that her team was mentally exhausted with her. My best friend's daughter played for her at Creighton. I was dismayed that NU hired her knowing what I know about her from that. Glad she's gone.

This article, which I read when it was first published, is illuminating. It would be more than reasonable to replace Boehm and let his replacement assess the program next year - in effect giving Miles one more year.

But there is no way to sugar-coat it. The program is leaking oil badly. Way too much was invested to upgrade the results to merely accept more of the same.

That said, blowing the entire thing up and starting over would not bother me in the least. I will only be bothered if nothing at all changes.

Barfy didn't appreciate me dropping him a hint that Eichorst was purposely trying to injure guys at practice the other day. He blocked me on the Twatter. Apparently I am not a credible enough source to base more bullshit articles on.
