****Of the 40,000 in attendance on Saturday night, easily over half where Nebraska fans. It was unbelievable to see this kind of support for the Huskers in Evanston. Mark Banker told me after the game he's never seen anything like that before in all his years coaching on the road.

"It reminded me a lot of last year's Rutgers game where it's a smaller venue and our fans just stand out," Banker said. "They are the most incredible fans I've ever seen. I'm sure there are other Universities, but it just makes you proud to be part of this one with the kind of fan support you have. It just brings some home cooking with you."

Must feel unbelievable to these coaches to have the Husker support!

I am sure he knows that it can come crashing down hard if the team has a bad year again...

Amen. The days of players constantly looking for a reason to be pissed at fans appear to be over.

Did you notice how the players all had each other's back. There was no infight during the game!

GBR!

I'm just glad the team is using the fan support as a resource rather than an obstacle.

It's nice to know that our team has an edge because of us, rather than wins in spite of us. Thank God we have grownups driving the bus now.

Ain't that the truth! I was at the MSU game a few years ago and when Nebraska walked into the stadium the only player that acknowledged the fans was Gregory. Everyone else followed the lead of the coaches and looked straight ahead.

The players are playing great football this year even with the mistakes. Riley doesn't sugarcoat anything either and calls a bad play (Newby fumble) a bad play. This is a team that is playing like the good teams did in the past. No quit, and keep fighting back. Riley is also willing to take big gambles at times to either try to maintain or to turn momentum around. Bobby Stoops has been successful at that and it appears Riley may be as well.

At the VERY best for Northwestern it was 50/50 their fans to ours. I would say more like 60/40 Nebraska fans. The streets of Evanston were full of red.
That is being very generous. The only parts of the stadium that were "predominantly" purple were between the 40s and their student section.

P.S. The field looked like something a little league football team would practice on.

Extremely well put.

Good observation Suvey...that field looked rough. I know they like to keep the grass long there, but it looked pretty clumpy, patchy, and uneven.

GBR

Yeah, it was all red, all the time. We walked into downtown to pound a couple of IPAs at WOB and it was all red as well. Always good to see.
