Regardless of how good Sims turns out to be as a passer the season will rise or fall on the play of our offensive line. If they do not open up the running game then we are in trouble no matter who our QB is. If they do not protect the QB on passing downs then it won't matter who our QB is. A good offensive line can create a situation where your QB is asked to play within himself and to be a game manager rather than a superstar.
And as for our backup Qb's, they better be ready to play because there is a very real chance that Sims will get injured. And that is especially true if he is asked to run the ball too much.
Everything hinges on the play of both of our lines. And since most of our games will be nail biters most likely we will need a good effort on special teams and a defense that can stop teams when it damn well matters, which is something we have not seen around here in a long time.
Our first two games will tell us a lot. I remain cautiously optimistic.
