Arizona Wildcats fire football coach Rich Rodriguez

Time to poach a couple unsigned commits from Arizona's class...

...University of Arizona and our athletics department to go in a new direction,” Athletic director Dave Heeke said in a statement.

Rich Rod was all the rage at WV, took the Michigan job and it's all been downhill ever since. Well, except he's worth a boatload of $ now. N

The problem with him as a coach is that he stumbled on to something, eventually exploited college football with it and once it was the norm and others improved it's use he was nothing more than an ordinary coach again. Doesn't hurt to have Pat White, Steve Slaton or Woody Dantzler though..

Already special and would thrive in Frost system IF oline gets fixed. A Tommie Frazier type. Powerful runner, average passer.

Whoever takes over that job as head coach or offensive coordinator is going to be very excited...

those two would do well there. i thought sumlin was an asu possibility.

other name somebody mentioned was kiffin. I'd love to see it.

That said, I love how his "accuser" got migraines over spreading her legs and probably getting bent over his desk. Wonder how much U of A will gift her.

Did you even read the article you posted?

I guess we need more details about what is warranting a 7.5 million dollar lawsuit.
Yeah what he did was wrong but wtf? Cal you at late hours to change his travel plans calls for 7.5 mil.??

No true insider info here, but based on what I've heard here in WV, I am not surprised. RichRod likes the ladies.

Yes he was all the rage at WV. I seem to recall Alabama trying to get him before landing Saban, but RichRod decided to stay at WV one more year before going to Michigan. Too bad for the rest of CFB that Alabama dodged a bullet on that one.

Perhaps they should look for an older, seasoned coach whose morals are beyond reproach, demeanor is kindly and gracious, and who is looking for one last big adventure.
Crazy Herm already took the job just up the road - or did you mean some other kindly oldster? Winking

I think they are going to try and compete with Arizona State and go after a mediocre retired NFL coach that is in broadcasting. Welcome Steve Mariucci!
