Are you ready to discuss Wyatt Mazour?

Quote from Mike Riley after practice, "He's Danny Woodhead."

Riley went on to say he would've been our kick returner last year but suffered a serious head injury in Fall camp.

Let the off season hype train roll on.
If the kid can play well enough to get onto the field during a game, great. That's more variety on O, more tools in the tool bag.

I went back and compared the two by checking out Danny's High School film and Mazour's.

Wyatt actually was bigger and stronger than Danny as a Senior in High School. But you could easily see Woodhead's 4.4 speed on film. Wyatt wasn't quite there yet.

Wyatt's 513 total yards and 6 touchdowns in the 2014 State Title game is one of the greatest individual single game performances of all time.

Perhaps fate will give Nebraska a Mulligan after missing out on Woodhead over a decade ago. Would be cool if Wyatt is the Mulligan.

Yes. I think the Palmer boys and did not Marion McQuiston Sp?
dangit, didn't know other male athletes had. Was hoping to trip you up. All I remembered was Sue Lind. My old man got a hoops scholarship from Creighton back in the early 50's, figured that was old enough that you wouldn't know. Didn't know about the Palmer boys. What sport did they play and where did they go? All of my closer family members moved out of the Albion area or passed on by the early 90's.

Not 100% sure, but I think Chris Nelson was a scholarship TE from Albion in the early 70s. I believe he had some knee injuries that shortened his FB career though.

Yes on the knee injuries for Nelson. A kid named Gordie Foster had an offer but had a bad break of his lower leg against Hartington Cedar Catholic then got in a horrible car wreck with mutliple fractures and was never the same. He was about 6-1 and 225 lbs and ran sprints. He would have no doubt been a stud at NU. McQuiston was in the same class as Central City's, Dave Leigel, Jeff Quinn from Ord and Kim Baker from York. McQuiston was placed at Coffeyville JC by NU, was all conference I think his first year, then flunked out of school. I don't think McQuiston's upside was near what Foster's was. Foster would have probably played on Sundays.

Yep. He looked good last season i didnt know about the head injury that explains some things.

I thought he was a heck of a walk on recruit when we landed him. At this point, I'd like to find out how well he catches the ball and runs pass patterns. I think there's an opportunity with the lack of a standout RB to use kids like Mazour and Spielman in the backfield and use them in motion or in the slot or even give them the ball on a few carries.

Riley wants to have "small guy" as a part of the offense. He's looking to develop options.
