I would be very surprised if Smothers and Purdy are both here in the fall. Smothers has a transfer and would be better suited to a qb run based offense or more likely moving down to FCS.
Not sure about Purdy. He was so lost but would have to sit.
I also wouldn't be surprised to see HH at #3. I also wouldn't be surprised to see HH as the 4th string TE.
Yeah but is it really a break in game if your 0-1 in conference after the first game? Pacific is a break in game. Minnesota isn't.
Exactly this. I think HH will legit be our third string QB, which past years have shown we'll need at some point later in the season. So I'm thrilled he's moving up to that - I loved his game winning TD drive in the spring game last year!
That being said, until that time, why not break him out at receiver? Third te? He's a freak athlete that helps when he's on the field regardless of role I'm sure
And the thing is if you put him in the game as say a WR along with another QB, it provides an opportunity for some trick and/or confuse the defense plays.
Don’t care who it is starting, as long as they stay healthy and can win us some games. I just hope it’s an actual QB comp and not just Rhule handing Sims the job because it’s his handpicked guy.
That’s where I’m at. Hopefully they put the best guy out there. I’m not attached to any of these QBs. But I sure did like that video in the OP

The clip was a simple read option with a huge hole and that makes you excited? Any of the QBs on the roster could have run that.
Yes. Just seeing who Rhule is bringing in I foresee an offense that’s run heavy. That kid looked pretty damn fast, too
Silliest thread of the year. It appears to be a play drill, not a scrimmage play. If that is live action we have some real, real big problems on defense.
I saw enough from that one clip to project him as a two-time Heisman winner.
A lot of championships have been won in the back yard, many on the last play of the game, from the QB passing to the reciever and them being the same person. Of course, the defenders were trees and bushes but the blocking was non-existent.
True story. 3 years ago I'm on a plane headed to the spring game. There's a guy wearing an air Jordan backpack and I liked it so I looked it up on Amazon and couldn't find it. After the spring game the same guys on my return flight, but he's decked out in NU gear and sitting by Becktons son. So I asked him if he was a coach. He said "I'm a QB coach and Frost asked me to come help with the QBs. I said how do you like AM and he said "He is good, but Haarberg is the future of this program, he's a great athlete." But never saw much of Haarberg again. The QB analyst was Blyden Trujillo who was QB at USF.
I'm guessing it was mostly 3rd string defensive guys on that clip. Don't get a boner
