Is anyone here going to the game at Illinois this upcoming weekend? I grew up an Illinois fan for 18 years, living in the Western Suburbs of Chicago, and graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in May. I have been a Husker fan for about 4 years now, so this game will be a great thrill for me. Going to the game with my Dad, 1988 University of Illinois graduate, so it is fun to have a new family rivalry.

If anyone is making the trip, I can make recommendations of where to eat and park and such.

Hope to see a lot of red in Champaign on Saturday!

That is the road game I am going to this year. I don't know anything about the town.

Yes. Friday in Chicago to pick up one of my daughters, Champaign Saturday am. Where do we hang in Champaign after the game??

Well, I am not exactly sure what you're looking to do, but Green St. has a lot of restaurants and good places to watch evening college football games.

Kind of depends. If you plan to tailgate, just park in any of the lots near the stadium. If you plan on getting there just a little bit before kick off, park near the fraternity and sorority houses. It's not the farthest walk, but it is free to park on the streets over there.

How bad is traffic leaving the game? I will be headed to Springfield, IL.

I guess it depends where you park. If you park by the fraternities and sororities, it is pretty easy access to the highway. If you park in the parking lots, it's going to take awhile. A lot of cars in a small space. Urbana-Champaign isn't the biggest area, so it's going to be a little bit of a wait with thousands of people going in the same direction.

My son and I were going to go until Elton John announced a concert in Omaha that same night and the wifey wants to go to that so my trip to Champaign was wiped out. So no road game trip this season - boo hiss. Next year however Bloomington or Columbus here we come (likely Bloomington though because it's in mid October and the weather should be pleasant, you never know about Columbus, Ohio in November).

Me and the the rest of HuskerPreacher family are going. We'll be wearing pins with his picture and screen name on them if you happen to see us.

I live on the north side of Chicago. Planned on going, but might bail out. I am going to the MSU game in Lincoln no matter how much we stink.

Driving from north side of Chicago. Not Northwestern-easy, but too quick to not do.

A buddy and I will be heading over from West Lafayette!

Kams is a bar...hit it...check out Murphys and Legends. Also for tailgating hit up the new Grange Grove, you can google...basically they made a very nice open space a huge tailgate scene. I wish that Nebraska had more room for something like this.
