Any shot at some “The” OSU recruits?

Here's the thing, guys:

I worked with a very @Tuco Salamanca -style guy at TD Ameritrade who would do a ton of research, crunch numbers, and do analyses of college football like nobody else I'd ever met. He was telling me that it's extremely hard to compete with Ohio State in particular, because they have, objectively, the best 500-mile recruiting radius in the country. They have Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and dip down into the South as well. On top of that, they get the bonus of being one of the most winning programs in the country, historically.

So, let's do our best and recruit like mad, but I would say comparing our program to theirs is...precarious. Always take it with a grain of salt, because they have a major natural advantage.

Now, it just so HAPPENS that over the last 15 years, that program has also had a hell of a lot of scandals and gotten in its own way.

So be it! :-D

Honestly, I am amazed that Arkansas is recruiting so well after such a poor season. At least the Huskers improved and showed promise. I would be trying to poach from their class.

Yeah I have no idea what that's all about. Arkansas stinks. I mean, just being in the SEC and having a ton of top players nearby yields regularly good recruiting classes, I guess?

But they have a hell of a class. Fifth best in the SEC. And top 11.

They have lost two 2020 commits.
Yes, I expect Urban's retirement does NOT help their recruiting efforts but I also didn't expect them to lose any commits. Kind of surprised that two of the 2020 kids actually bailed right away.

The thing is that 2020 is still a ways off and there will be kids that come on and develop next year (their senior years). While no school wants to lose commits, 2020 is not nearly as critical as losing 2019 kids.

I've said OSU has the best recruiting advantage in the country for years. They get 85 to 90% of the kids in Ohio they go after HARD - you could field a very good BIG team with just Ohio HS talent. Then that 500 mile radius really reaches into a ton of fertile recruiting areas. Add that they've started to pull some major talent out of Georgia..... Plus they've been pulling big-time talent out of Florida for years and usually pull 2 or 3, 4&5 star players every year out of that state. Take a look at the 5 star talent out of Texas on their current roster. It's almost impossible for the other BIG schools to recruit with those guys because of the built in advantages they have.
