Another portal OT coming for a visit

More OTs is good

Actually if we get this guy and the Bama OT, I think most would consider it a very successful portal season. Only missing a RB, but maybe in the spring portal?
More carries for Parker as a frosh I would guess. I know Dana said Ives practiced great but I am still skeptical until I see otherwise

I think we could use a NT and a Safety. But getting a couple of quality OT's and calling it a day would have to be considered a success.

These 2 OT'S would put us at 16 guys. Last I checked we were #8 in the country for ranking. We grab these 2 and probably be top 5. Very successful portal class.

RB’s will go as the OL goes. We will see massive upgrade in our RB room if Oline can push some folks around.

From the article

The 6-foot-8, 320-pound Pete was a 2023 All-Conference USA first-team selection, while in 2024, he didn’t play until Week 8 of the season, starting the Aggie’s final six games at left tackle.

I like EJ. Not a home run threat, but versatile and can pick up chunks.

we either need more OT than many thought or we are just missing on guys

regardless, we need to be better up front and if plugging & playing Conf USA guys is the answer so be it

Me too, love EJ but we have nothing behind him. If Parker is the real deal or if Ives steps up or both… we are fine. But that won’t be known until after spring. And I don’t know if Parker is even an early enrollee.
Could be wrong, but if I read his recruiting profile on TOS correctly, he is indeed an early enrollee. Which would he huge because he's supposedly a burner. Would be ideal to have the 2nd back be a home run hitter.

Way I see it. Those guys played against P5 teams. They probably didn't give up a sack every play against them.

So they can be compete on this level too with the right coaching.

Depth wise at least.

new mexico st went 3-9 and played one single P4 team - texas A&M - losing that game 38-3 while giving up 2 sacks and 10 tfl and throwing for a whopping 92 yards on 7/23 passing

in other words, not really.

Maybe. I am getting concerned with the "Grass is always greener" feeling on some of these guys. Are they really better than what we have in the cupboard? I am not wise enough to know.

All true, but I'm heartened by what NMSU (usually an absolute graveyard program) was able to do in 2023, when he played all season. Under Jerry Kill, they won at Auburn and made a bowl game. Their 2023 QB was terrific playing for Vanderbilt this past season. So there is hope that this guy can produce at the highest level.

Jerry Kill is a heck of a football coach. Turned Minnesota around too.

I guess the coaches agree with those of us who think we need help at the tackle position.
I like the take expressed earlier by someone else. They view taking a transfer OT as a bridge to the guys they recruited the past two cycles. Virtually everybody understands the value of playing older players on your O line. Some of the guys they're bringing in have been in other programs for a couple of years. Competition is good. That doesn't mean we don't like the guys we have.
