Noticed Cuse played at Wisconsin recently and lost by 17. He was leading scorer for Cuse at 14 in 38 minutes. Would think he'd put up similar if at NU. Curious if he thinks this is playing out better for him. May be too early yet.

Personally I find it funny that he went there to help his draft stock, when it is a school that runs as it's primary defense a 2-3 (which HCJB is damn good at teaching), but to make it in the NBA you have to be able to be at least decent at M2M.

I thought his chances were long to begin with as there is a stigma (right or wrong) against college players who stay 4 years, and he's going 5. I don't think he gets drafted. He's Europe or D league bound IMO.

Visions of grandeur danced thru his head. Or maybe he did not want to play defense.

if that were true he'd still be here. Cuse isn't making the tournament this year.

He and his dad didn't want him to have to defend and dribble/drive like Miles wanted him to do more of to expand his game. They think he has a better shot at the pros if they hide his flaws rather than expose them and inprove on them.

Cuse has a much better chance of making the dance than NU...don't you think?

You may be surprised to note that Syracuse is actually playing more man to man defense this year to address that exact concern that players have - that their defense is coming into question when it comes to draft time. I'm not sure if they will revert back to the match-up zone when the season winds down, but I did find it interesting.

I also think Nebraska's youth probably develops more this year without him here and that will pay dividends in the next year or two. When Watson and Morrow are seniors, Jordy is a junior, Roby is a junior, and this team had experience that they've gained over the last couple of weeks with games against UCLA, Creighton and Kansas, and the upcoming Big Ten schedule, this team is going to learn and grow more by being thrown into it vs. having a guy chuck up 20 shots and getting hot every now and again.

I am predicting not only an NCAA tournament appearance, but a win in two years. They may even make the dance next season.

But the typical "three-man-weave" "Miles is in over his head" crowd will certainly crow about that.

You think people will "crow" if we win a NCAA tournament game within the next two years? Lol! Let's worry about getting over .500 first and maybe the NIT. Baby steps.

I stand by my statement. Give this team two years and if they still can't perform then it's time to go in a new direction. But I'll be surprised if this team with the amount of talent doesn't get over the top by then.

I really doubt Miles makes it two more if he continues down the current path. Next year is very likely sink or swim.

IF he's not in the top half of the B1G next year you could be right....but IF he keeps all the kids here now on board and finds a really good guard to go with Glynn we could be good next year.

This year, with our lack of shooting and Webster drives to the bucket, I think that he would have had a great chance with him at NU.
Yeah, I can see that. I do remember most people saying NU would be better off without him too.

From a win/loss record, no. From a team/program standpoint, yes.
I agree with this. Likely, NU would have a better record with Andrew on the floor - probably picks up one or two more wins already, though likely same losses to UCLA, Creighton and KU, but by the end of the year, the experience the team will have built up will be well worth the one year of a few more losses by positioning them to be much better next season.

I wish people would quit bashing the basketball program every moment they get and realize this team has a LOT of talent that needs to develop a bit more. These are not KU, Kentucky, Duke type players that will be stars when they step on campus, but the nucleus is much stronger now than it has been maybe in the entire Miles and Doc tenure. Give it some time to develop and enjoy it when it pays off. This is EXACTLY how historically bad teams build. It takes time. You'll enjoy it more if you were supportive during these years vs. all the bashing you do. Because the alternative leaves you with having to say "well, I'm pleasantly surprised by this" vs. saying "I was with them during the bad times and good".

In case you missed it, here's the URL of an article from a couple months ago. Obviously the URL was changed but it was there when initially published. I replaced the "f word" with "*'s". The URL tells me all I need to know about what the players thought of AW3.

From day one, my thought was to give Miles six years and evaluate at that point if he's the right or wrong guy. As difficult as it is right now to stick with it, I'm going to. As I said prior to the season, Miles is going to sink or swim on his own and I wouldn't blame Eichorst one bit if he decided to move on after this season [assuming it's another below .500 season] It's fun to see the upgrade in talent across the roster but it's also upsetting to see the same issues are happening now that they did in year one, with a completely different set of players.

Bashing the program, or bashing the HC? People can be critical of the man in charge for his offensive scheme, and not be bashing the program.

Since SE didn't hire him it makes it really easy (or easier) for him to replace him. But I don't see it happening anytime soon. Miles has really made all the right moves with the fans and media. He just needs to win...he really doesn't even need to make the dance all that much...if he just averaged 19 wins a season it would always put them "close" where fans would be okay about it.

So tell me why or how Chris Collins can take over a team, that has never been to the NCAA tournament. That had won 13 games the year before he arrived. Recruits only 3 and an ocassional 4 star players. Plays in a 65 year old arena that holds 8100 people. Little to no turnover, majority happened after year 2 when 4 players left. Built the program with high school recruits, not transfers or JUCOs

But in 3 years surpassed Miles in both win/loss record and head to head.

You can't tell me that Northwestern's athletic support is on par with Nebraska's.

Steady improvement

14-19
15-17
20-12 (swept season series from Nebraska)
7-2 to start this season with a 2 point loss at #18 Butler and a 4 point loss against #22 Notre Dame. Wins over Wake Forest, Texas, DePaul.

People get behind that. There is a plan there.

1. Great example but you know Miles-Lovers will never buy this
2. They are getting some renovations done!

Ah, the Chris Collins love. The same Chris Collins who won 20 games but didn't end up in the dance. Yippee! That's awesome, 20 wins!! Wait, Miles made the dance in the same time frame but hey, a better win/loss record is more important. Wait, since post-season doesn't matter, Miles has a winning record against Izzo therefore, he's the better coach. With a plan!

10th place, 10th place, 9th place. Great results!

Texas, the same Texas that lost at home to UT-Arlington. Heck of a win, Chris.

DePaul, goodness, Rutgers beat them. Rutgers! Heck of a win, Chris.

KenPom doesn't think too highly of Northwestern's schedule.

That is all true but NW does seem to be trending more upward than NU at the moment.

Doesn't matter. He is a Miles apologist. Forget the fact that Tim Miles hasn't beaten Northwestern since February 2015. And forget the fact that as pitiful as he made Northwestern's Big Ten finishes sound, they finished ahead of the Tim Miles coached Nebraska team in each of the last 2 seasons.

No doubt they do, today. The same was said last year & he didn't end up in the dance.

Until he makes the dance, it means nothing.

Couldn't be further from the truth. I've been on record, prior to the season, saying Miles will sink or swim on his own. You won't find a post of mine saying Eichorst should keep him no matter what. Matter of fact, you may want to read my comments in this very thread as they're the same as they were prior to the season.

I'll help you.
Miles is going to sink or swim on his own and I wouldn't blame Eichorst one bit if he decided to move on after this season [assuming it's another below .500 season]

More responses of mine regarding Tim Miles. Sure in the heck doesn't read like a "Miles apologist". As I said, you couldn't be more wrong.

July 2016
As I already said, he'll sink or swim. Makes no difference to me.

August 2016
Real good move by Eichorst. This will put additional emphasis on the upcoming season; swim and get rewarded or sink and Miles is on the hot seat. The downside is, making the dance and someone else comes calling.

The way I see it, Miles either shows improvement which results in an extension back to four or more years or he's in trouble

October 2016 [response to you]
I couldn't care less if Miles is coaching or someone else is; not named Collier (failure) or Sadler (failure).

If Miles is the next coach fired, you won't see a word from me in defense of it. As I said, I couldn't care less. He'll swim or sink on his own, which I've stated multiple times.
