The last thing I wanted was for the government to get involved with college football, but I'm afraid they really have to. It's gotten way our of hand and it's clear that the judicial branch has lost it's mind with these court rulings. Legislation needs to be passed to return college sports to amateur status with clear guidelines for eligibility that gives the NCAA back some control over collegiate athletics. It's the only way to reign in some of the lawsuits.

Serious question, does Rhule recruit Jucos? Can’t remember the last one we landed. Seems like with the portal, less of a need for them.

I agree! Something has to be done or else college football especially is going to be destroyed.

I mean the government did get involved with college athletics. That was the problem. NCAA only has the power to do whatever government, whether that's legislative or judicial, commands.

Political appointees in the judicial branch did this. We need legislation set up maybe similar to the legislation that gave the NfL a protected monopoly status.

the laws the NCAA was allowed to violate for decades upon decades are nearly as old as the Civil War.

the NCAA had that legislation in its favor for a very longtime. now - just like the NFL - it does not.

college football needs a players' union and a commissioner and every single perceived problem is solved. literally every one.

The NFL has contracts. 18 year olds can't sign those in Nebraska, maybe nationwide. This is just one example of many that college football has to navigate that the NFL doesn't have to worry about.

Opens up a whole new pool of recruits. Former juco players who recently graduated or were cut or retired from the nfl, who want another shot. Get an offer out to Lavante David. /sarcasm

I believe a 15 year old in NE can enter into an employment agreement

You are right, and it'd take a lawyer to explain the differences. I'm no lawyer but I think you'd run into problems having them sign anything binding.
I don't.

and under federal law, workers of all ages have the right to join a union (such as a College Football Players' Union).

a Players Union would collectively bargain and also certify legal representation (agents) for its members.

meaning no 17-year old kid would be entering into an agreement independently and without express written consent.
