Be great if he’s forced to retire but sCUm still owes him a boatload of money

I know who not to tell if I am having a medical issue.
I am not sure Colorado would owe him another dime if “he chooses” to retire.
I didn’t think his health would hold out as long as it has when they hired him. Sadly his kids will probably at least be carriers genetically for the same health problems. The timing of this suggests it is kids leaving.
Deion is and always been a charlatan
No but it’s common sense if you “ retire “ voluntarily you don’t get the remainder of the contract.Don't know, haven't read his contract. Have you?

And I would think that CU was aware of health issues before the last contract was signed. No but it’s common sense if you “ retire “ voluntarily you don’t get the remainder of the contract.
You know, I don't like his style and I wouldn't want him to be our coach, but at the same time, he got Colorado from a 1-11 team to a 9-4 team in 2 years. I have to wonder what our team would have looked like with Travis Hunter though.
I'll bet his contract says that if he has to leave because he's sick, he gets paid, then CU just pays him with insurance money, as all of these big contracts are insured for this type of occurrence. No but it’s common sense if you “ retire “ voluntarily you don’t get the remainder of the contract.

Yeah, I agree. If Deion retires early for health reasons I’m will to bet he gets some sort of buyout. I don’t know his contract specifics, but I don’t see Deion leaving money on the table. If he quits, he probably has something in his contract where he gets all or most of the money in his contract.
Based on his previous health issues I assume this would be the case, if it goes down the way people are wondering about.ii. “Disabled” as used herein means that Sanders is unable to perform the essential functions of his duties under this Agreement, with or without reasonable accommodation.
I agreeI dont wish bad health on anyone, well most anyone, but who didn't see this coming a hundred miles away? If he is forced to step down because of his health, the mass exodus from that program will be monumental.
I'm not sure he wants out of Dodge. I think he likes living in Colorado.I agree
If he is truly going through some tough health issues, I despise that man but hope he is alright. However, I would not put it past that man to use this as a ploy to get out of dodge, hence why I despise that man
The fact that it says he doesn't have to pay damages if he retires leads me to believe that he won't be getting paid if he retires, he just doesn't have to pay the buyout. I did a quick google search for the contract itself, but I couldn't find it this morning and have to jump on a zoom for a couple of hours. Maybe I'll search more later because I am interested to know the details.
Edit - I found this language from his original contract -
15. Termination on Death. This Agreement will automatically terminate if Sanders dies.
a) If this Agreement is terminated because of Sanders’s death, Sanders’s salary and all other benefits shall end in the month of Sanders’s death except that any insurance or other similar benefits may continue in accordance with their terms or University policy.
b) Termination for Disability
i . If after engaging in the interactive process with the University’s ADACompliance Office, Coach is deemed unable to perform the essential functions of his job with or without reasonable accommodation, this Agreement will automatically terminate, and Sanders’ salary and all other benefits shall end in the month of such termination notice. Any insurance or other similar benefits may continue in accordance with their terms or University policy.

Yeah, I agree.
It will be a horrible look for CU if they just terminated everything.
It’s very simple.asOP posted if Deion can’t perform his duties because of a disability the agreement is terminated. The university can Continue benefits such as insurance if they go that direction. But to your post if Deion has to retire either way he is not getting the boatload of money you say he is getting. It’s totally up to Colorado to if the choose to give him something.Yep, and then begins the argument of what he deems "able to perform the essential functions of his duties under this Agreement, with or without reasonable accommodation" vs. the way colorado sees it.
And combine the above with this and that's where settlements come into play.
Of course, @Big bo fan thinks these things are just as simple as using common sense and I'm a dipshit forthinkingknowing contracts are never that simple, especially when there are tens of millions on the line.
Then why is he in Texas and not Colorado during this illness? I think he likes coaching in practice and games. The rest of the stuff he hates, like recruiting and being up there to do the BS daily stuff. I truly believe that if he could, he would be in Boulder for the time needed to conduct the 15 spring practices and then come back for the first day of fall camp and be gone as soon as the regular season or bowl game is over.I'm not sure he wants out of Dodge. I think he likes living in Colorado.

It's not uncommon for rich people to live in multiple locations and like each one of them. My guess however is that he's in Texas for the medical care. Now I don't really care but I haven't seen anything indicating he hates being in Colorado. As I recall the Colorado location was one of the attractions for him to taking the job. Then why is he in Texas and not Colorado during this illness? I think he likes coaching in practice and games. Nope Never been you are the one moving the goalposts. I am just saying according to the contract if Deion has to retire there appears to be no buyout either way. Of course someone can sue .Hahaha tell us you've never been involved in a multi-million dollar lawsuit without telling us.
