Alabama really looking good..

on the road up 21-3 at the half. They are going to be tough to beat the rest of the way.

No team has ever been #2 in the country with a loss to an unrated team. They didn't do their job and win the games they are supposed to. Several other teams have done what they need to do. The entire polling system is a joke. If they win out and climb back up into the playoff, that would be ok, but for them to be #2 now is historically stupid. They should be #7 right now.

I agree.... Ohio State had no business being in the final four last year.

They may have lost to ole Miss having a horrible day losing the turnover battle by 5 and still almost won. If they play there A to B+ game they are the best team in the country. They have better tallent then everyone else and Saban has retooled his D to not be huge and a step slow for these spread teams. That D is versatile and can take on any kind of offense.

Ohio State is the only team that can match athletes on both sides of the ball. If they figure out there crap by the end of the year they will challenge Bama. They would have to contribute to beating themselves for the Clemsons of the world to beat them. They would spank Iowa and Notre Dame bad.

Is Bama that good or are they the same and the sec is that horrible?

Who cares if the would have beaten Mississippi if they played better? They didn't. If Nebraska would have played better 6 times, we would be undefeated. No other team would be top 5 with a loss to an unrated. It is a joke.

I don't disagree that Bama is one of the top 4 teams but I do think it's crazy that they are the only team in America that gets one free pass each year. They can always lose one game and still make it in.

If you don't put Alabama in the top 4, then you are saying they are, at best, the 5th best team in the nation. I find that very difficult to believe.

All I am saying is that they have not earned there way in yet. They lost to an unrated team. They can earn it by winning out, but they have to earn it back after a bad loss, when several teams are undefeated or have better losses, like Notre Dame's loss to Clemson. Just because they pass the eyeball test, does not mean they don't need to do their job to get in.

With the ESPN propaganda machine you would think the LSU and Miss State wins were against great teams. Nope, just another year in which the SEC looks better because of the PRE-season rankings. They knock each other off and no one drops too much...It's beautiful for the SEC

I do think Alabama has a very good team, but they do not match up well versus passing teams. In the SEC there are few great passing teams..power football is the norm in the SEC and if you try that against Bama you will lose.

They are probably the last team anyone would want to face in a playoff game.

But for the history of football, that has not been the determination of how you are rated. Have they done their job this season on the field in all of their game better than everyone else?

Comparative Scores
Here are some Alabama scores compared to other teams that beat those same teams:

AL 30
LSU16
ARK 31 LSU 14

AL 37 Miss 43
FLA 38
Miss 10
MEM 37 Miss 24

AL 31 MSU 6
TA&M 30 MSU 17

AL 34 ULM 0
UGA 51 ULM 14
Troy 51 ULM 14
App 59 UL14
ARST 59 ULM 21

AL 37 MTSU 10
LT 45 MTSU 16

AL 19 UT 14
OK 31 UT 24

Final scores do not tell the whole story of how bad a game was dominated or not dominated.

Alabama
Is Alabama a top 10 team? Yes!
Do they dominate opponents? Yes, but not as much as everyone is led to believe.
Should a loss hurt them like it does anyone else? Yes.

Alabama was down 30-10 late in the 3rd quarter to Ole Miss. Not a dominating game by any means in their lone loss.

Other Teams
How about Notre Dame? Notre Dame has one loss (to the current #1 team) and Alabama has one loss (to the current 25th ranked team).
Notre Dame has beat two teams that are currently ranked (Navy #19, USC #22).

How about Oklahoma? Oklahoma has one loss (to unranked Texas) and one common opponent with Alabama (Tennessee).
Oklahoma was down 17-3 and came back and won in 2OT. Alabama was down 14-13 and came back to win.

Best Loss
Who did the top 1-loss teams lose to (current AP rank of that team)?

Notre Dame lost to #1 Clemson
TCU lost to #4 Oklahoma St
Navy lost to #5 Notre Dame
Baylor lost to #7 Oklahoma
Florida lost to #17 LSU
Alabama lost to #25 Ole Miss
Michigan St lost to unranked Nebraska
North Carolina lost to unranked South Carolina
Oklahoma lost to unranked Texas

Best Win(s)
Who has wins against current ranked teams? (Just did the current top 10 teams)
(In order of most wins vs ranked and then highest ranked vs team)

Clemson beat #5 Notre Dame 24-22 & #16 FSU 23-13
Michigan St beat #23 Oregon 31-28 #14 Michigan 27-23
Alabama beat #17 LSU 30-16 #21 UW 35-17
Iowa beat #21 UW 10-6 & #20 NU 40-10
Notre Dame beat #19 Navy 41-24 #22 USC 41-31

Oklahoma beat #10 Baylor 44-34
OSU beat #11 TCU 49-29
Florida beat #25 Ole Miss 38-10
tOSU beat #.... uh none?
Baylor beat #... uh none?

Alabama has the 6th best loss and 3rd best wins.
Notre Dame has the best loss and tied for 4th best wins.

5 Conference Champs and 3 at large is the best format.
Play the 1st round games at the home field of the highest four ranked teams.

I watched Bama this last weekend and I couldn't believe how good they have gotten since the loss they had earlier in the season.. I don't see anybody knocking them off the rest of the season... Unless they get a game where they have 4-5 turnovers obviously. So I do believe they should be in IMO .

I think it's one of those things that everyone knows they are a top 4-5 team, but dislike them so much it's hard to admit it even with 1 loss. If they win out not a single person will argue they shouldn't be in. If they don't, all this takes care of itself. Top 2, top 4, doesn't matter anymore. Are you a top 4? That's all that matters.

If Alabama and Clemson played this Saturday? How much do you want t bet 'Bama would be favored on a neutral site? I do not buy Clemson as much as everyone else. They'll prolly get in but I think they're an easy early out.
