Looks like Agau is transferring again and will be a grad transfer with 2 years left. Does NU go after him or does he end up at UNO or Creighton?

should the NU Basketball program go after Agau now that he is leaving Georgetown as a Graduate Transfer? Former Central grad that Miles tried to recruit out of high school. 6'8" and 234 lbs. another big body that could help us inside. Would be opportunity for him to come home and play in front of family and friends. Thoughts?

I thought he and Miles were not buddy-buddy
That's fake news. Miles wanted him bad, as did McDermott. He transferred from L'Ville because he wasn't playing any and he's transferring from G-town for the same reason. His buddies at UNO graduated and transferred so I don't see there being a landing spot. At this point I'm hoping he plays for the Huskers but who knows at this point.

I suppose Creighton could be an option also.

At the risk of exposing my ignorance, can someone explain why all these kids are transferring in basketball but not so much in other sports? Are NCAA rules different for basketball?.... T.I.A.

I worked the CU-GU game in Omaha. I believe he had 9 and 9 in that game. I'd be happy to have him in Lincoln.

He and Thurmond are tight. Wouldn't that be interesting in 2018-2019. But I'm not going to hold my breath.

Explain the Thurmond comment...not tracking with the statement.

They are friends. Thurmond was at the CU-GU game in Omaha and went back to the locker room after the game to see him.

OWH article says AA will be eligible for at least 1 year. Thurmond has to sit out next year. They possibly could play together in 18-19.

Where did Thurmond come from?

Good question, since the transfer rules are pretty much the same for basketball. Could have something to do with all the summer leagues and select teams kids play on these days, which gives them connections to players and coaches at different schools. Also, I think the one-and-done rule has something of a trickle down effect. Even players who have little or no shot at the NBA still want to shop for a situation that will get them maximum exposure and playing time.

As far as I know Thirmond has not decided on where he's transfering to yet unless I missed something recently. He's leaving UNO.
So Agau would play at "x" school next year while Thurmond Redshirts at "x" school next year, then play together the following year (assuming Agau has 2 years left)? Seems like real long-shot scenario!

That's why I said I'm not holding my breath. They'd have to find a school that has two open scholarships. Anyone know of a school desprate for some size and athleticism, and maybe a coach who's seat is getting a little warm. Hmmmm.

A friend of mine knows them both well. Can't wait to call him tomorrow.

Ok. I now know the scenario better. The scenario would also need to assume that Miles is interested in Thurmond (and willing to have him sit out nex year) and Thurmond willing to gamble that Miles will be at Nebraska longer than next year.

Purely a pipe dream right now. LaughingSmokin

It was reported that Tre Shawn was going to Nevada. Not sure if that's official or not. He would be a fine addition to NU, but I'm not sure if Miles wants anyone this year who would have to sit out a year. As far as Agau is concerned, he's said no to NU so many times I can't see him finally transferring here. But if he does, he would be a great "get" for the Huskers. Fills a need, veteran experience. Perfect fit in Miles scheme. Lack of scoring isn't an issue for a post in Tim Miles' program.

Thanks. I missed that.

I agree with your comments, but maybe now that he hasn't seen much playing time at either Louisville or Georgetown, maybe coming back to Nebraska where he will get more playing time and be recognized locally will finally be appealing to him. Just a thought!

I'm not seeing how he could really help out a lot. Georgetown was an awful team and he couldn't even get playing time there.

I was also under the impression he thought NU and CU were joke schools.

I'd hope he's pretty full from his double helping of humble pie. It's amazing what a slice or two can do to a guy's outlook and attitude.

You're forgetting that guys who put up no stats prior to transferring into Nebraska always immediately improve their their game. I only hope James Palmer is able to bring it the way Anton Gill did.

Remember all the bitching when Miles didn't land him. You know "another Nebraska kid goes big time and NU didn't recruit him hard enough". I will say that not getting the PT he wanted at Georgetown isn't something that would deter me from taking him. Thompson makes Miles look like John Wooden. He could come to NU and be guaranteed lots of playing time. Don't you just love it when a plan comes together?Winking

You're assuming that Gill isn't going to bring it this year. Gill was a top rated recruit for a reason and did show flashes of being a good player. I still think he has the potential to be a really good player for us assuming he fully recovers from the injury. Another year of maturity and acclimation to Lincoln could do wonders for his confidence. Glass half full.:) Life's better that way. It's not like we lost a couple of the greatest forwards in college basketball. Agau would be a nice replacement piece IF he would come to NU.

Go read his Twitter feed from mid-March. I think the 16th and 17th.

He was up front about wanting to come to Nebraska, but, in his view, Miles didn't make the effort, so he went elsewhere. He seems to think Miles just thought he would come to Nebraska because gen was local. Also talked about Gill and Copeland and helping get them to Lincoln.

Interesting none the less.

Agau would be a really nice piece to have and he would be vociferously welcomed home.

Honest question - what flashes did Gill show of being a good player?

I just think his hype exceeds his game.
He can play half way decent on D when he actually decides to play hard and offensively he is average.

Didn't Georgetown just beat Creighton this year? Miles can only dream of doing so. I believe he is now 0-12 vs McDermott.

He made a couple baskets. I think even got a steal and rebound.
In addition to his absolutely horrific stat line, I'm not sure I've ever seen an NU player who was less interested in participating in the offense until his "It's my turn to shoot" alarm went off - then he was jacking one up come Hell or high water.

I really think the Huskers' best chance of success next year is if Copeland stays healthy, Taylor continues to be a serviceable role player, McVeigh makes enough shots to stay on the floor and the incoming freshman guards keep Gill's butt squarely on the bench.

Hey... all he needs is 3 years to "acclimate" to Lincoln.

When Thompson let him play, he had decent games against some good teams. Creighton was one as I noted above.

Everyone is excited to see what Copeland will do for Nebraska. I know he was injured this season, but his stats and AA's stats are pretty comparable.

A terrible team? They beat Oregon, Creighton, Marquette, Xavier, Syracuse, and UConn. They had plenty of talent on that team, they had a bad coach.

Doubt we could find a better fit at PF at this time.....no brainer to me if he wants to come here. My only concern would be adding another scholarship to the junior class...but, Miles needs to win now and with the way things have been going there is no guarantee any of the soon to be juniors will be here the following year.
