After two years under Rhule, what do we know about these Huskers going into year three?

Honest question. Hopefully it doesn't turn into a btch fest, but even thru seeing the negatives what are some positives leading into 2025?

A few from me:

Seems to be development going on in most positions.

Rhule makes adjustments on staff.

Raiola upward trajectory still on track.

Rhule
Work on your clock management

Be better prepared for situational football

Act more quickly when things are going poorly
(Special teams)

Stop hyping kids so much in the media. That
only disappoints and makes us question your
willingness to bullshit.

Follow through on what you say regarding
playing time as it relates to mistakes.

Keep building the family culture. Guys buy
into this and stick around

He and the program are average. He has 50 million in the bank. It’s a great side hustle with a low bar from the previous 25 years. There’s a bunch of old heads like me that remember the old days but know it’ll never happen again here. He’s an upgrade but never going to be a great recruiter. You can only hire so many coaches with family members until that runs dry lol.

We will shit the bed against ranked teams.

We will never drive down the field and score when we most need it.

Our defense will collapse when we most need a stop.

Hopefully all of that changes as we cycle the losing players out.

No idea on year 3. First two years are just a repeat of last ten years. Winning the offseason again this year. No all B1G players on either line it seems for next year.
Still… he has recruited well and was willing to fire failed coaches. Next year’s schedule is very manageable.
Could be a breakout season if our two lines develop well. Or it could be a difficult year 3 for Rhule in a season where he needs to produce.
Gonna be fun!

I wouldn't say that as we finally went to a bowl game which we won and also have a winning record for the 1st time in 10 years. This here is progress.

I think we know he is going to keep trying anything he can think of to improve and keep a good attitude throughout the process. Nobody knows if it will work, but I hope he can bring us to a consistent 8-9 wins per season, starting next year, and build to occasional Big 10 and playoff runs every 3-4 years.

We will probably have a good handle on where the season will go by the fourth game against Michigan or the fifth against Michigan St.

If we beat a 2024 5-win Cincinnati team convincingly we can hope NU stops playing down to the competition level.

If they beat Michigan we can hope they are learning how to win games they shouldn't.

Regardless of the Michigan result, if they beat Michigan State by more than one score the next week we can hope they have learned to not let down after big games (like UCLA after OSU this year).

Poor performance in games 2 or 3 will indicate it will be another disappointing year.

I think we agree there is still allot of unknown for any semblance of an identity going forward for these teams.

Hopefully. Hopefully, Rhule is continuing to evolve his approach for how to get where he wants to with these teams. It does appear he has a plan and is making changes to get there. Hopefully the results in the win column follow

Looks like we upgraded at every coaching position. Special teams, currently, is addition by subtraction and who ever they bring in for Special Teams coordinator can only be an upgrade. If all we do is fix the bad snaps on kicks and punts, we'll be way better off.

Shavers looks like a dude.

Dylan should be even better after a full year under his belt.

HH moving to TE vastly improves that position groups.

Excited for the 2025 season.

I would not be shocked if Michigan is noticeably worse next year.

the culture Harbaugh built was big enough to float thru another season, but I have serious doubts that Sherrone Moore will maintain it.

If he improves next year, I guarantee you Oklahoma will be blowing up his phone once they fire Venables.

Going into year 3 I feel optimistic that when Rhule sees obvious issues with the team he's not afraid to make changes, even in-season. We haven't always had head coaches willing to do that.

As far as "these Huskers" relating to our current roster I have no clue what to expect as players come & go too often to know what we'll have until we line up for a specific game.

It would seem to me that both the offense & defense will have to be simplified to the point that a one or 2 year player can come in and contribute almost immediately. I think Rhule gets that under the present transfer portal chaos.

I don’t know about this. Michigan finished very strong with wins against Ohio State and Alabama. I am not saying we can’t beat them, but I am saying to expect them to be a very good team.

Sherrone Moore is not HC material. Michigan will continue to drop off.

I’m excited to see DR develop and hope we commit to the running game

Agree with most who say the more we’ve seen the less we know for sure

Almost back to Year 1 with 3 new coordinators.

I haven’t decided on whether NIL helps or hurts us yet (maybe more parity now?). I see the changes going on and can’t help but drink the kool-aid—like all of us, I would love to see this program take a big step forward. That said, my gut feeling is that the average number of wins for Rhule coached teams will be in the 6 to 7 per year range (not counting a bowl game). So….I would realistically expect a 7-5 record next season.

I got us right around 7 again this year. About what I had last year. I wanna see how the OL finishes out the portal season and if we can get 1 big plugged inside somehow. Then I'll give a more definite answer. But right now I'm at 6 or 7 again.

Seems like we are addressing every deficiency. People need to be patient. I get that we were patient before and it didn’t pay off, but if Rhule is adjusting and addressing issues then we need to be patient. Hoiberg followed this model and it’s paying off.

We have arguably more talent at most positions going into 2025 than we did going into 2023. QB, WR, starting RB(depth TBD, but we have a dude), LB, K, P, longsnapper(lol, but really). Secondary and OL may be a push IMO. DE a step back from a transfer perspective, but I think the losses are exaggerated by the services. How’s that for Rhule Aid?

Getting to .500 in conference games and taking care of non-conference games would be monumental improvement.

Seriously? We took care of non-conference games last year and they should be even easier this year. If we don't take care of non-conference games this year, we've got big problems. Can't actually go .500 in conference play as there's 9 of them. But just for argument sake, you're talking about a 1.5 game improvement in conference play over last year. Depending on which way that 1.5 would actually go, that's either from 6-6 regular season last year to 7-5 or 8-4. I'll be disappointed with 7-5 and I guess 8-4 would be okay. But I wouldn't call either of those a "monumental improvement"

We don't run the ball enough

And have a terrible Play action game.

I like how good we are on short distance downs.

We found a kicker

Looks like we are trying to get better and he finally understands the days of development are gone. Your team will be different every year.

Get him more money!
