Jimbo Fisher gets plaque for Texas A&M national championship he hasn't won yet

Texas A&M didn't even wait for football season to start before putting pressure on new coach Jimbo Fisher to win a national championship.

At an event earlier this month in College Station, Texas A&M system chancellor John Sharp honored Texas A&M-Commerce coach Colby Carthel for winning the Division II national title. He then called Fisher up to the stage and presented him with a national championship plaque.

Only trouble is Fisher hasn't yet won one with the Aggies.

"We have sort of the same thing that we gave Colby," Sharp said. "It says here Jimbo Fisher, head football coach, NCAA Division I football national championship Texas A&M University. The only difference between Colby's and yours is you get to fill in the date."

Fisher quickly replied: "I hope I fill in a couple."

Fisher left Florida State after the 2017 season for Texas A&M, which gave him a 10-year, $75 million contract. He went 83-23 at FSU, including a national title in 2013.
